80M with 3rd year option isn't so dumb for me. He's still young enough to experiment with different teams. He can worry about winning after 3 years. You're dumb if you turn down that kind of money.

Mavs convinced DeAndre Jordan he was an underutilized gem. Jordan is a good signing for the Mavs, but If Jordan is your best player for years to come you are lucky to even make the playoffs. Ideally he is your 3rd best player like on the Clippers. Not sure where they see all this untapped potential, especially minus an elite pg and elite passing power forward.
Ken Berger : Then, there was the friendship, influence and history of doing basketball business -- lots of basketball business -- that Fegan has with Mavs owner Mark Cuban. The Mavs landed another Fegan client, Chandler Parsons, to a three-year, $46 million deal just last summer. Apparently, Parsons is paid mostly as a free-agent recruiter, because he made more of an impact dining with Jordan this week than he did on the floor all season.

I really really hope this comes true.
You can see the ego feeding strategy they used to get the deal done, but it's hard to imagine how an offense with Jordan as even the 2nd scoring option works. If he isn't one of their go to offensive players how long is he going to be happy? Seems like they made a promise no other team would make, but full filling it could turn the signing from a positive to a negative.
They do a very good sell job, give them that. Hey Chandler, come to Dallas! Expand your role! You can do and be so much better! We'll feature you here! Hey DeAndre, come to Dallas! Expand your role! You can do and be so much better! We'll feature you here! Franchise player!
With Jordan going to Dallas it is obvious that the mavs are out of play to get Parsons to sway Dwight to come to Dallas if Dwight options out after next year. But then you have the clippers possibly still having a need for a center and if I remember the Howard sweepstakes the clippers were trying real hard to get Howard to L.A. with Paul. But of course that opens up alot of cap to go hard after Durant for us....sorry just putting my thoughts out there to see what you guys thinks about that scenario.

They plan to have parsons as pg and jordan posting up. Vivek should take notes. They have surpassed his innovative new age basketball ideas !
