If I didn't know any better I'd say the Mavs are building their team specifically to stop Harden and Howard.

From Tyson Chandler to DeAndre Jordan isn't a as huge an improvement as people seem to think. Dirk is also a year older. Dallas used all of their cap space to get slightly better, and are still no threat to win it all. The path to a championship got easier not harder.
Marc Cuban's sales pitch to Aldridge: Sign a one year contract with me. It wont be a max this season. But I will take care of you after next season and the rest of your life.
If Dallas gets LMA . . .does Dirk come off the bench? DJ-LMA-Parsons is that significantly better than DJ-CP3-Blake . . . whom we just beat 3 straight? Rocket River
Wes Matthews (unless he can't heal) and DeAndre Jordan are upgrades to Ellis and Tyson Chandler. They just need to solve PG part to become relevant again. And they have one of the best coaches in the NBA.
They don't have a lot of options at PG given their cap situation. Word has it they're working on a deal with Barea, but he can't be their full-time starter. And what about their bench? Aminu is gone. Amare is likely gone. Jefferson, Harris, and Felton are old. There are huge holes in that roster.
I wonder if he'll be pissed when he realizes Dallas won't feature him as offensive option 1. Supposedly, that's what they pitched to him.
Good move by the Mavs. With the rising cap DJ is for sure worth the money. Not sure how much better they will be than last season, thoug, at the C spot. Tyson Chandler is really good for them and he makes his FTs. The issue with Chandler is that with his age and mileage, you don't know what you'll get out of him in the future seasons. And yeah... the Clippers are screwed. Maybe we can trade them Joey Dorsey.

Patty Mills (in the event spurs have to let him go) would be really good for them (as well as for the Rockets). Jeremy Lin at under 5 million could be intriguing for them as well, since they need another playmaker and pnroll player. Only concerns would be, his ball handling and how he would cope under Carlise.
