The trick is figuring out if you can afford it or not.

Felt that both Parsons and especially Matthews were overpaid when they signed...but then this crazy FA season happened, and it turns out Parsons was significantly underpaid. And they still got most of the other players they wanted...so they could afford it. Mavs had I think $58M in cap space, so that leaves them plenty left to fill out the roster. So, yes, seems like they can afford it.

Barnes seems inconsistent to me, though, so Carlisle will have to work his magic. But the talent is there.

I hope GSW has to match a max offer.

Anyone that acts like they know how good Barnes could be is lying.

    perfect news.
    Either way = profit
Dallas will have an overpaid roleplayer for years or GSW will be burdened with his contract.

    Hush.

He's young, therefore he has upside. He went to North Carolina. Was drafted high. Won a ring with GS.

These are reasons why you should disregard his obvious lack of skill and pay the man. I mean, amirite?

Cubes will throw him a player option and a trade kicker too.

Nah man. Barnes is better. Parsons has hops but Barnes is quicker, and I'd say his vertical is higher. Oh and Barnes has been healthy!

Parsons and Barnes aren't even in the same stratosphere. Parsons is actually good, Barnes is worse than league average player and I don't think that will change. You'd expect people that sign players would watch games in 2016.

Tie up our money with a RFA? Like that's ever worked in the past? It only worked with Lin and Asik and those players played well until we actually had them on our team with Howard added later.

This is such excellent news for anyone other than Dallas and Golden State.

    Either:
    (1) the Mavs get a lead weight contract with an inconsistent non-star, non-leader in Barnes, while the Warriors simultaneously regress a little bit at the 3 (not much but a little). Or...
    (2) the Warriors have to really limit their next four years of flexibility by overpaying a guy they know to be limited, while the Mavs strike out for like the 10th time in a row, delighting Rockets' fans even more.

    So fun!

I'd rather have Barnes at $25 than Anderson at $20. Like Barnes could play the 4 and still be better defensively than Anderson.

This is Cuban at his best, going down in a blaze of glory. Glad it's Barnes and not Donuts.

I'd rather have Anderson at 20 than Horford at the max. Barnes has upside but may never fulfill it. Seeing the Warriors match his contract would be great for every other playoff team in the West for the next 5 years.

If they're gonna pay Barnes 25M why didn't they pay Parsons 23M lol wtf. Maybe Barnes lives up to his potential but considering he had a stacked team and didn't do **** with it I don't know exactly how much he can be expected to improve. Ryan Anderson may have injury issues, but if he's on the court he has performed Barnes despite having a ridiculously bad supporting cast.

GSW will match. Cuban just doing this to let the MFFLs think Dallas is doing something.
