I need a little advice. How to select a wedding band? What materials are best, how much should I be looking to spend? I'm seeing everything from stainless steel to diamond-encrusted gold and prices from $10 to $thousands.

We already have her wedding band, we just need to get mine.

Get something you like and dont worry about price. I spent 500 on a white gold band that I had custom made at a local, family owned shop after finding a design I liked at a chain store.

And make absolutely sure it fits well. I had it resized twice and am happy I did.

I wouldn't spend a lot on your ring at all. I got platinum, but wished I would have gone with white gold. I hate even wearing jewelry but make sure you get it sized right or else you'll be major irritated wearing it,I don't even wear it to job sites anymore as it seems to scratch to easily. The white gold was around $900.00, custom made, and looks exactly like my ring which cost a lot more.

Also, I have her name tatted on my ring finger, so really no use for the bling except for when we go out. I don't even know where it is right now, lol.

    that's not your job.

most money goes to the engagement ring (that's your job)...then you let her pick out the matching wedding bands.

Like LonghornFan...I'm confused by your question.

I'll be putting mine on for life in like 5 days!

I went with palladium. It's cheaper than platnium, but wont turn yellow like white gold.

you don't have to match her wedding band, but you can if you want.

just go to the store and look what they got. mine was like 600.

Palladium -- hadn't heard of that option before. That sounds interesting.

Yes, we'll both select it together, but I'm the one wearing it, and I just wanted to get advice from people with experience. The responses are so far are very helpful already.

Unless you're looking at a large, cheap white gold ring, the better ones do not yellow if taken care of, like maybe once a year. If I had it to do all over, $900.00 would have been my max. The wife is the one who needs the ring she desires.

Oh, and get used to her getting what she desires. It's like a married rule. Just let her win arguments and go cuss at the Rockets on another TV. Works for me.

Go with something simple. Mine is white gold, and plain. Got it fairly cheaply. Your ring matter much less than hers. Get something you can afford and something you are comfortable wearing. No one is going to make a big deal about it, so make sure you are happy with it, because that is all that will matter.

I have no advice, as I'm still years from marrying, but just would like to congratulate you. So, congrats!

Don't become that "50% of all marriages..." statistic!

If you're in Houston Michael Kline will design you something cool and personal for alot less. I got a platnium and gold anniversary band from him that has my wedding date engraved in roman numerals. Its pretty cool looking.

    Good luck and congrats.

Tungsten/titanium wedding bands are the trend right now. Very sturdy and not expensive. Perhaps a bit too sturdy since its very difficult to cut. Your ring size will need to remain the same or be close your whole life
