Indy is not picking up his $7.5 Million team option, so he will become an UFA on July 1st. What do you guys think about him? Last yr was a pretty solid yr for him and he has a good amount of experience under his belt. I feel like he can be had for pretty cheap compared to any other SG like Hedo or Artest. He shot 45% from the field last yr and got to the line twice a game. Here are some stats: Stats http://www.indystar.com/article/20090626/SPORTS04/90626035
Barry, Taylor, McGrady (possibly out for half season) Battier, White, Budinger Quantity over quality. Rockets still need a starting SG.
Daniels may not be the answer, but he is an upgrade that may we worth it for the right price. As mentioned previously, it should bequality over quantity. He is definitely a quality player who could be a grea role player in the starting lineup or a good 6th man. If we can't resign artest, Daniels would be great. If we go resign artest, we can still acquire daniels making some of our other players mroe expendable. The more assets we have, the better trades we can get.
Phil likes big guards. my take is he will go to Lakers and play the ron harper/brian shaw role. He is pg like and would work well with brooks, but i think he will have better options. Maybe a sign and trade though.
I am actually bafflled as to why Indy haven't re-upped Daniels, he was a scoring machine for them early in the season before getting hurt. He does seem to be injury prone, so maybe they have some inside knowledge of a lingering issue.
I think that would be a nice match for Marquis and the Laker, but I don't think the Lakers will be able to afford him after spending to keep both Trevor Ariza and Lamar Odom. My guess is that Indiana WANTS to keep him and will re-sign him to a multi-year deal at about $3-4M per year.
