Off to meet with the Bills I am doubtful they're really in the mix...but they should help kick the auction off with a number his agent likes. Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter Free agent defensive end Mario Williams plans to visit the Buffalo Bills tonight.
Had to get under the salary cap by 4 pm today... even with the cuts the Texans are barely below the cap.
1) To get under the cap when they were initially over it 2) I believe they had every desire to retain Mario, but it was always a question of whether Mario wanted to stay in Houston or if he wanted to go out and get the biggest check he could. This was his decision, not the Texans'. I've also wondered if Mario quietly wanted to return to the 4-3 where he was most comfortable. He did an admirable job shifting, but it's very possible that he didn't want to be a LB. I'm surprised that this question was never put in front of him. Thank Chronicle, for your outstanding sports journalism.
has it been reported how much cap space they have? Seen someone post on one of these threads that its about 650k of space
Man, it was expected. But still hurts seeing it. To think another stadium is going to play the Super Mario sound bits....hopefully not a team we see often.
Goodbye, Mario. You made me and many others look like some damn fools when we were disgusted that the Texans picked you over Reggie and Vince. Please go to the NFC, preferably the Bears. I wish you the best.
bleh...i hope we some how resign, the Giants have shown us how vauluable a great pass rush can be. With mario, barwin, watt and the ninja and reed for a full season we could be an epic team.
Some FOXSPORTS guy was on 610. Claimed Mario will be the highest paid DE of all time. http://cbshouston.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/alexmarvez-031312.mp3
That was me and that was what La Confora said on the NFL Network around 1 pm today. I don't know if he took into account the cuts and the Andre restructuring. If he did, then we are in really bad shape if he's right
I remember being furious when they picked him over Reggie Bush. Stating the obvious here but boy was I wrong. Somebody is about to get a really good football player.
yes they are. unfortunately it will be for 10 games based on recent history. still would love to keep him
I'm glad the Texans did not Keep Mario. I'm worried Mario is going to be injury prone the rest of his career. I would rather spend money on someone else.
