I'll go ahead and tell you why it would have been a terrible idea to trade Budinger at the deadline and give Morris the backup 3-spot... because Patrick Patterson at the 4 and Morris at the 3 is incredibly redundant.
The article wasn't that bad, it didn't say to trade him or that he should be traded. It basically just said he needs an opportunity, which is pretty much what is stated on here daily.
I hope he ends up being good but this is stupid. He needs to figure out that he needs to earn his playing time. I saw Carmelo play in high school, college and the pros, Morris isn't a Carmelo, but it would be nice if I was wrong about that.
I for one believe that Morris is definitely in the Rockets plans. That plan is to trade him in a package for a better pick.
I would trade Lee, I think he proved that he isn't even in the top half of starting 2 guards in the league. I do like him coming off of the bench but I think he will cost us to much.
At what point did Morris out-produce any of his competitors at the SF position which would have given him claim to playing time.
Exactly, that makes me worry about him. He needs to bust his ass to get the minutes instead of crying about it.
At what point did Morris out-produce any of his competitors at the SF position which would have given him claim to playing time. Morris had an Eff rating of +0.69 for the season. Budinger was +9.33 off the bench. Parsons was +11.40 for the season C.Lee who also logged minutes at the SF spot was +10.19. Hard for me to believe he deserved playing time against his competition , D-League accomplishments or not. I have to wonder if maybe Marcus Morris is the Rockets version of Twill. Solid but flawed enough that his game doesnt translate to the NBA. If thats the case , the Rockets getting a return such as NJ got for Twill would be a coup. Tho its far too early to tell if thats the case or not .....
Well sometimes you need to just put guys out there to see what they can do, particularly young players. Spot minutes here and there is no way for a guy to get into a rhythm and produce. The Rockets were not willing to do this, though it's understandable because we were in the playoff race.
I've never understood the Morris hate. I love what Parsons has been able to do and I take nothing away from him. That said, Morris should have definitely played more this season. It was clear that McHale demoted him based on personal reasons rather than Morris' inability to contribute.
Why does the writer think Budinger isn't in the Rocket's plans? It's not like he's 35 years old and on his way out of the league. He's 24 and can battle for a starting spot.
