Marcin Gortat to Washington

Don't really have an opinion on this trade for either team but happy the Thunder weren't able to get Gortat.

 

And his polish shined his head (for the basketball).

 

Amused by all those stating the Thunder should have got Gortat?

How on earth would they have got him?

OKC had nothing to offer since they don't want to increase their payroll at all. They won't trade Thabo or Collison - their next highest paid player is Lamb ($2.1m - but to get Gortat they'd need to be geting up towards $7m in outgoings (ie, all their useful low contracts).

OKC don't want payroll - so they couldn't get him.

 

I'm Phoenix gave up on Marshall after just one season as a lottery pick

Such a great pick-up for both teams to try to get where they want to go

 

I think the bigger issue would be keeping Gortat long term. They'd probably end up letting him go this summer a la Kevin Martin.
They do have a bunch of young assets and picks and they could probably make a good enough offer for Phoenix to take back Perkins. But he'd likely be a rental, so I guess they didn't try or didn't try too hard.
