WOW.. I played it last night.. boy was that a really crappy looking game.. the demo they were playing on AOTS in G4 looked great, but all they have is multiplayer in this demo I think the game will hold up better in as a single player game.. The graphics were the worst I've seen on the 360 by far though and the controls arent that great.. I was hopeing for more from this game
Since GRAW seems like one of the most-wanted titles this month, I'll dedicate a post to the first (I think) review of GRAW for the 360: Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/694/694274p1.html
Great read... and great news! FYI, GR:AW actually comes out tomorrow (Wed. 3/8)... having a Wednesday launch seems a little strange.
More reviews (great scores too). BTW, these are all going to be from IGN just for convenience (my convenience that is). College Hoops 2K6 (360) http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/694/694365p1.html 7.4 at IGN, ~74% at Gamerankings. Despite the "low" scores, it might not be too bad. dskillz posted some (positive) impressions in this post: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=2231252&postcount=28 Shadow Hearts: From The New World (PS2) http://ps2.ign.com/articles/694/694277p1.html 7.8 at IGN, ~81% at Gamerankings. Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence (PS2) http://ps2.ign.com/articles/694/694781p1.html 9.8 ( ) at IGN, 97% at Gamerankings. Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai (PSP) http://psp.ign.com/articles/694/694278p1.html 7.0 at IGN, ~72% at Gamerankings. Daxter (PSP...btw, just by chance, I noticed the release date has been changed to 3/14 at ebgames.com) http://psp.ign.com/articles/694/694798p1.html 9.0 ( ) at IGN, 90% at Gamerankings due to the IGN score. Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror (PSP) http://psp.ign.com/articles/695/695160p1.html 9.3 ( ) at IGN, um...nothing at Gamerankings (guess once the IGN score registers, 93%). Pokemon Trozei! (DS) http://ds.ign.com/articles/694/694428p1.html 8.0 at IGN, ~77% at Gamerankings. A lot of reviews put up recently; I hope I got them all. As you could tell by my smilies, I was a little surprised by the MGS3:S, Daxter, and SF: DM scores. Together with Ghost Recon and any other 9+ games later in the month (Oblivion and Kingdom Hearts 2 hopefully, and certainly some others as well), that will be like 6+ games that got a 9+ at IGN. Plus, there's a game like Burnout Revenge (360) that got a 8.9 at IGN. Pretty impressive month I'd say. BTW, I think I'll post 1UP Show links in these threads since they usually preview/review games on the shows. Here are the links to this week's show (should work this time): WMV: http://zdmedia.vo.llnwd.net/o1/1UP/1upshow_0208_640x360.zip QT (high res): http://zdmedia.vo.llnwd.net/o1/1UP/1upshow_0208_quick.zip QT (low res): http://zdmedia.vo.llnwd.net/o1/1UP/1upshow_0208_320x180.zip PSP: http://zdmedia.vo.llnwd.net/o1/1UP/1upshow_0208_psp.zip The stream: mms://zdmedia.wmod.llnwd.net/a111/o1/1UP/1upshow_0208_320x180.wmv Show has some stuff on Oblivion (no "new" footage, just new impressions I guess), GRAW, Mega Man Powered Up, and Untold Legends 2. Also, for those looking forward to playing (or trying to play) Oblivion on the PC, here are some interesting posts from someone at the ES forums about how the game should perform on various PCs: http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=256305&st=0 That made me feel a lot better.
Well, GRAW is ruling my 360, at least until Oblivion comes out. Played it like crazy during my recent minivacation (5 days off) and beat it on normal difficulty. Then I tried the "Hyper-realistic" mode. Don't do it unless you're a glutton for punishment. It's like COD2 on Veteran status if the Germans were all suddenly made sharpshooters. EVERYTHING is a headshot all of the sudden, and you're very dead on a headshot, armor or no armor. I'm going to try to get into multiplayer as soon as people I know get into it. I hate playing online with strangers, you never know what sort of morons you might get stuck with. Graphics are awesome, gameplay is sharp (apart from the occassional stutter, usually when you're trying to crawl uphill), and AI is OK (rebels aren't very good shots, but your squad is too heavily dependant on you to hold their hand through the missions, a little more independance would be appreciated). All in all though an excellent game and well worth the wait.

You can find the links for them at their site: http://www.elderscrolls.com/downloads/media_movies.htm So far, 4 videos have been put up, and they look amazing. Looks better than any other videos I've seen from the game, and those were already very impressive IMO. Man, I hope Oblivion isn't one of those "Pretty, but plays like crap" games that ends up disappointing everyone. I've been waiting for it since it was a rumored launch game. Still waiting for someone to post a hand-on preview of Blazing Angels as well. It looks like it could be a really good aerial combat title. Got $40 in Best Buy Reward certificates I'm looking to spend, and it's either that or DVDs that I don't really need.
Trust me, if Oblivion is anything like Daggerfall and Morrowind (ES2 and ES3), it will do more than just look pretty. Of course, it offers a rather unique type of gameplay that is kind of a love/hate thing, so it may not be for everyone. Personally, I played the previous two installments for a LONG period of time and loved every minute of it. The playtime I put into Morrowind probably dwarfs the playtime I put into any other game (thanks to the expansion packs and mods), and I have often put 100+ hours into some games. I'm assuming Oblivion will offer me something similar, especially since the TES Construction Set for Oblivion seems more powerful than the one for Morrowind. I'm fairly confident that Oblivion will not disappoint, unless, like I said, the gameplay just doesn't appeal to you or Bethesda somehow lost their touch. As for Blazing Angels previews, not sure if you saw these, but I know IGN and Gamespot got to play a little bit of it somewhat recently (early March). Here are some of their impressions: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/695/695530p1.html http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/694/694556p1.html http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/sim/worldwariisquadron/news.html?sid=6145765
I think i'm gonna get the new repackage MGS3, even though I alredy have the original. The new camera system looks very tempting.
Let's talks some Oblivion. Thanks to RC Cola's CAG thread I am going to get mine for under $40 at Fry's. I believed that it was supposed to be released tomorrow(3/21). But on the Oblivion forums several people have mentioned that they already picked their's up at a Game Stop or EB. Is there any clarification on this? Is it out today, or tomorrow?
I thought it comes out Wednesday for the 360 Oh and that $40.00 is for the PC version not the 360.. just FYI
On the elder scrolls website yesterday the 19th it They have a '2 more days' video up there. So that would make it the 21st. On the forums board there are photos(wich may be photoshopped) of the game in the case including at least one 360 version. I'm confused, myself. I would love to go pick the game up right now, but who knows?
Damn, now I wished I had reserved a copy. I guess I could stop at a Game Stop on the way to pick my sister up from school.
