Chrome keeps telling me I am getting Malware and try to keep me away from Clutchfans forums. What is going on?
Post the exact page you're getting that alert from and the text of the alert. More than likely it is an image someone embedded into a post that is from a URL that Google does not like.
I got it earlier trying to open this thread: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=233198 Hit the back button and re-opened the thread and didn't get the warning that time. Using Chrome. My guess is one of the ads on the page triggered something.
Couple of other sites are experiencing this, might be related to this: http://www.mercurynews.com/business...ing-citing-netseer-blocks-google-chrome-users
this is happening to me in the 2012 cell phone thread....FYI and it just happened in this thread after this post LOL
Malware warnings I keep getting this message page when I've visited various threads in the Hangout and D&D... bbs.clutchfans.net contains content from cm.netseer.com, a site known to distribute malware. Your computer might catch a virus if you visit this site.
<br> Probably from one of the nasty broads that Beavis Stiffler keeps posting. <br> <br> That's the same message chrome gave me
This explains the issue. It's not specific to CF but has been a problem for thousands of sites. In fact, when I clicked on this page on ZDNET.COM explaining the issue, I got the malware warning as well. http://www.zdnet.com/netseer-suffers-hack-triggers-google-malware-warnings-7000010776/ By the way, that was the first time I got it. I have not seen it here, but obviously many have. Should not be any danger, but I've found and blocked the network in AdSense. It may take 30 minutes or so to reflect that. Hard to tell though if other networks use it as well.
You can see this is being discussed on Twitter as well. https://twitter.com/search?q=netseer <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Hello, Chrome users. We're aware some of you are seeing malware warnings about Guardian articles. Please ignore; no risk.</p>— Guardian Tech (@guardiantech) <a href="https://twitter.com/guardiantech/status/298454756123361281">February 4, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Reason for warnings: Chrome/Google has previously blacklisted <a href="http://t.co/TfbsNP1m" title="http://netseer.com">netseer.com</a>, which provides some Gdn ads. To repeat: no current risk.</p>— Guardian Tech (@guardiantech) <a href="https://twitter.com/guardiantech/status/298454950743257089">February 4, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
