I hope you're aware that this sounds mind-bogglingly insane.

Republicans have shown that they capitulate to their radical elements, Democrats are far more willing to compromise and take a moderate approach.

    That's because Democrats = moderates + liberals
Republicans = social conservatives + rich people

I can respect that. Obama is a lesser of two evils, but I've no problem with someone abstaining from voting for either evil. I've spent enough time at Democratic and Republican fundraisers to know most of the American political scene is a sham with an illusion of choice. The truth is that no one makes it to the Obama or the Romney level unless they fit a very narrow mold approved by powerful monied interests.

As far as what the next 4 years will be like: it will continue most of the trends started under the Reagan era. More inequality of wealth and income, decreasing public education standards and results, and more partisanship.

The last part means the same old gridlock in Washington. Congress will only act at the very last minute playing a game of chicken and it will keep delaying meaningful measures like reforming campaign finance, fixing our public education system, or thorough banking regulations. Which means we'll see another financial crisis either in the 2nd term or at the end of this decade.

Still I'm hopeful to see what will happen with mar1juana legalization (or lack thereof), healthcare reform and costs, and SCOTUS (possible reversal of Citizens United).

Good, I was afraid your mind could neither be boggled nor toggled. We shall revisit my prediction of famine and destitution in, say, three years depending on whether Obama allows a free internet to continue.

The economy will improve, like it does every 20 years. Dems will look like the saviors just like Reagan did.

Your flippant use of mindless buzzwords personally offends me. Famine?

Serious question: where in the local/regional/global food chain - especially on the raw material through production, through distribution levels - do YOU fit in? Please tell me your area(s) of expertise.

Things will get better, and if it doesn't there won't be a "blame it on Bush" excuse next time a-round...plus I am prepared and ready to pull the trigger lol

I'm very curious to see how the GOP handles getting beat twice in a row by running (what is in their eyes) moderate candidates.

McCain was an intermediate moderate, and he got crushed. Romney, before the primaries, was a severe moderate, who ran as a diet coke version of a tea partier after foolishing falling for the dead cat bounce of popularity for conservatives that was the 2010 mid-terms.

This worries me into thinking that the Republicans are going to go full-blast tea party bats**t crazy with their nominee in 2016. The trend for them seems to be digging themselves deeper into obscurity, not proactively trying to find to win in a new age and getting the tea party wing either under control or out of the tent entirely.

My guess is that there will be more severe in-fighting in 2014 for Republicans than we have ever seen. That party is going through a major identity crisis and the fissure between the intellectually discerning, fiscally prudent, socially disengaged members and the 'derp go bak 2 ur country socialist mooslim' members has never been wider nor more apparent.

Personally, I think we will continue on the path to going broke as a country - but we well may have done that under Romney as well.

I don't expect significant gains in employment - and if Europe goes through troubles as I expect, it will get worse.

Thank Obamacare for that. Speaking of Obamacare, our healthcare services will get worse and our costs will go up. You don't get something for nothing, and having the government pay for stuff is no way to lower prices.

All of that being said, Obama could get my vote for greatest president of this century and vastly improve the lot of black people in this country if he just decriminalizes drugs. It's beyond the ability of a republican president, but I think he could do it. It would kill the prison industry, but would end so much suffering.

Buck, I am quite serious. I moved freight -- your food and goods -- for quite a few years. That's my perspective on your distribution levels.

Trust me, famine -- meaning not enough food, any food, to eat -- is not something I desire, but it is something I foresee. Why do you think I worked so hard to keep Obama from further harming the nation? Apologies that my opinions are not kinder, but they are what they are. I pray I am wrong.

I'm curious too, but my crazy idea goes like this...
Step 1: The GOP needs to win votes by taxing the rich more than the Dems...instant repudiation of being a party for the rich...as Bane pointed out "you think your money gives you power over me?",...if being rich is a liability, then cut it off

Step 2: hefty taxes on tobacco, alcohol, and food deemed unhealthy...

Step 3: agree on certain feel good programs established by the Dems- public healthcare, clean energy, being green...

Step 4: help businesses with greater incentive for consumers. More and better tax credits for energy home improvements ...

Step 5: create job programs involving community mini farms..with shared food allotment plus monetary incentive for those willing to work.

Step 6: define the ideological difference. Draw a line in the sand on what you feel is at the core of our differances. For example, be pro Christian, pro gun rights, anti public union

I hope 2016 comes down to Clinton and Rice

Clinton - Where were you when Dub Ya was dropping bombs on Iraq?
Rice - Where were you when your husband was getting his c**k sucked in the oval office? BIOTCH!

Haha...no seriously, no progress until politicians start working together full time.

Buck, I wish that were true. Life would be easier, but I cannot shrink from the truth of what I foresee. Again, I say with sincerety, I hope that the future proves me wrong.
