1. Andre Johnson is a best, this has nothing to do with him. Before this game, the Texans operated with Walter and Johnson as the two starting receivers, and Keshawn Martin was the slot receiver with Lestar Jean and Posey making out the fourth and fifth receiver on the depth chart. Inser today's game. Posey gets an opportunity and catches and holds on to a beautiful pass from Shaub. Suddenly, Posey is the 3rd WR now, after Martin (who might have been benched this game, did not see him in the offence at all) and Jean have disappointed for so long. Kevin Walter has been disappointing the past three/four games, and in the whole 4th quarter, Posey started opposite of Johnson, meaning that he was now playing as the 2nd receiver. Is this a sign of changes happening this week to the WR corps, or just a one game adjustment? I personally think it is a sign of change benefiting Posey. We drafted him as a "development" with a lot of upside. Maybe he is showing it now. It was very interesting to see Posey out there. He seemed more active in special teams too. He looked pretty solid. Seemed to have better hands than Keshawn. Walters is Walters. Can't really say he has been playing below expectations. Keshawn, Lestar, and Posey are still raw. But after today's game, all three have shown great potential in this season.
walters sucks and has been pathetic the past two weeks. early in the year he was showing his worth outside of blocking. recently he has disappeared and his hands have become crap. off with his head
Maybe it's just me but does Posey look a bit bigger since preseason? He looked pretty ripped today and very good hands.
From all I have seen, Posey has had good hands. He has made some really tough catches and holds on after vicious hits. I don't think he has gotten bigger (might lose down field speed), but if he did, he will never have the guns of Daniel Manning
Posey has received the message, not grandmaster flash's but kubiak's. He sealed the edge in two of those foster gashes. If he keeps blocking like that..watch out
Walter has disappointed in the second half of the season but people are tripping if they think this is going to change things that soon or greatly. Jean and Posey are likely to get a lot more looks at this point because we have locked playoff positioning. If we win the next game, I expect Jean, Posey or both to start in the final game if not just get the majority of passes thrown their way. This can be a bit of an audition for one of the younger players to solidify a case for potentially taking Walter's spot next season but come playoffs, short of an injury our starting #2 is going to be Kevin Walter. Hopefully, good performances will however get the coaching staff and Schaub the confidence in them to spread the ball around instead of the pass offense being dependent on AJ like it has been since the second half of the season.
Walter will still be the 2nd receiver on this team, primarily bc he is a vet that has done his best...even AJ has said this about him...he is going to be fine come playoff time...the key is getting a solid 3 receiver...Jean, Keyshawn and Posey have all had their moments...when they are called upon...they just need to answer...
I thought that was interesting to see Posey but it's nice to see him make some plays. He and Lestar do add big play ability alongside AJ. I wonder if it was Posey earning the reps by him playing well in practice or if Martin's lack of production forced the issue.
It's important for our youngsters to have field experience in case their number is called in the playoffs. At this point in the season, you can't even regard them as rookies anymore. Everybody on this roster is on even standing as far as being given the opportunity to contribute, and it's up to the individual to deliver....no matter his age.
From the interviews, Kubiak and Andre mentioned how well Posey was practicing. Andre was saying that everything was slowing down for Posey. It's great to Schaub having some confidence in the rookies though.
