Waiting until the trade deadline would be perfect. We could see Dwight play significant minutes to know he is okay before making the trade. I tell you his injury scares the hell out of me. I would feel much better about it if we can see him play until the trade deadline.

Yeah, DH12 will be so much more valuable in February when:
    1. He's sandbagging the season, with a crap cast, averaging 17 and 8.
    2. Orlando is more desperate than ever
    3. Everyone else will have watched the extent of his back injuries on full display.

Nice play. (Please, please be serious, Orlando.)

    That's cool.

He'll be cheaper at the deadline and it's not like we were going to do anything with him this year.

Also we'll have a better grasp on our guys. This hurts the Rockets in no way so whatever the Magic what to do is fine.

You can bet that Hennigan and Morey are both sitting back in their office chairs, looking at the ceiling, and wondering which move will be best. Certainly the Asik deal has to go through before the endgame of Howard ensues. And Hennigan like most GM's probably has balls of brass. It is called serious negotiation.

Orlando is NOT going to wait until mid season to trade. Howard will be traded before training camp. New coach new players. No need to carry drama over into the season. Morey just has to wait until Rob folds.

Do they really want to wait?

or just want trading partners to give up more.

That's bull****. Right now they can sell Dwight for a season, if they wait they are only selling him for the postseason. They're going to lose value if they wait.

They're stupid. If they're going to trade him, do it now and let your team "earn" a high lottery pick. If they keep him, we already know they can win with a halfassing Howard, so they will be a 4-6 playoff seed in February. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

Morey is sitting on one side trying to figure out how little he can offer. Hennigan is sitting on the other trying to figure out how much he can demand. It is going to take time to work itself out.

Don't you all get it? Howard does not want to come to Houston. He will do anything to stay away. Including staying with Orlando through the start of the season. Is anyone convinced yet?

This may be why we are signing Asik, even though we are going "all in" to get Dwight, seemingly making Asik an overpriced backup. By signing Asik, we drive down the price to get Dwight, because we have other options. We can "go young", which line has been sold by even Les and Scola (unknowingly).

So we end up paying less for Dwight because we take back one less bad contract (Davis?) in the deal because Asik's contract took away some of our flexibility. If we do get Howard, then Asik becomes an asset who can be flipped at the trade deadline. There is always a trade market for serviceable centers.

Magic looking pretty desperate right now. This just means the Rockets aren't giving them what they want and they don't know what to do. There bluffing and I hope moray calls there bluff. I GUARANTEE you they aren't starting the season with him. I think the Rockets are in good position right now.

Where have you heard that Dwight or Team Dwight have stated that he would rather start the season with Orlando than go to Houston?

Wow, Total BLUFF. But Orlando may have bluffed its way to getting nothing.

This is obvious posturing to get the only team (Houston) to up the offer for Dwight. Consider:

    1) Dwight wants out of Orlando and is a posionous to keep around for the Magic. <----Bad for Orlando.
    2) The longer you wait to trade (i.e to the trade deadline) the LESS any team would give away for a half year rental of Dwight. <----Bad for Orlando
    3) The longer Orlando waits, the more "proven" the rookies become, and assuming if they do well, the less Houston will have to give up or want to give up for a short-term rental (as opposed to Morey's willingness to give 3 1st round picks prior to draft for example) <---bad for Orlando
    4) Dwight's Injury Problem. Right now no one really knows how his back is holding up. If Howard sits out a lot in the beginning of the season or shows he can't perform as well due to injury then his value drops. <----Bad for Orlando
    5) Fewer teams will want to trade for Dwight due to short-term rental and the fact their rosters are set (especially between now and start of season) <---bad for Orlando
    6) Morey the Wizard knows the game and is up against a rookie, 30 year old GM. <---BAD for Orlando!!!

Sorry Henny, you are outmatched. The longer you toil, the more desperate you will become to get something for Howard. This only plays into Morey's favor. Houston is one of a few teams with the picks, assets, expiring, and cap room to get the deal done.
