Rockets have the toughest schedule? Did you pull this out of thin air? We have the one of easiest schedules among 4 teams. Opponents Strength of Schedule for remaining games: Jazz: 53% (5th in the league) Warriors: 49% (21st) Lakers: 49% (22rd) Rockets: 48% (23rd) Team - Home/Away Warriors: 15/6 Rockets: 12/9 Jazz: 11/11 Lakers: 10/11
I might be being a little pessimistic, so maybe we beat the Mavs, Jazz and Blazers and we pick up 3 wins and things will be totally different. But we I think we most likely lose to Pacers, Spurs, Grizz, Clippers, Fakers and Nuggets. And who knows, we can lose some silly games to some bad teams. A "little" pessimistic? You had us going 1-9 against every team that's not pathetic, as well as having us finish 10th in the West (even though you then changed that arbitrarily). By 'maybe" beating the Jazz, Mavs, and Blazers, that will in essence, clinch us a playoff berth. How can anybody twist making the playoffs (especially in a season where NOBODY expected it) into a bad thing?? If we get the 8th seed, I'd be ECSTATIC!
my point is basically, if Rox want to make the playoffs then have to beat every bad team... only then can they afford to lose all the games to the good teams. If Rox take care of business against the bad teams, then they are in the playoffs. If they beat a couple good teams, it's gravy. Their destiny is in their own hands! :
You're still wrong. The Rockets don't have to play well to make the playoffs because they're already 3 games over the ninth seed with the tiebreaker. The Lakers are the team that has to run the table, which you have just assumed they will for some reason despite them not playing well all season.
Thanks kuku for posting the numbers and kicking off the thread. If I remember right, you, ScriboErgoSum, seemed a bit pensive about continuing the Magic Numbers Thread from last season but, I'm always glad to see your charts come up during the latter part of the season. Thanks for keeping it up and I hope you 2 keep it updated. This season is going by faster than I imagined.
I surely hope bamfbamf is trolling... I rarely put down the opinions of others, but those predictions were a joke. I literally laughed when I read that.
Calm down guys, he's just doing his best to reduce the effects of the jinx thread by giving a bad forecast in said thread.
Morey has said several times he projects us as the 6th seed, and actually prefers that match up for the rockets. which we have lost every time we played them...I was wondering if that was because rockets are deliberately holding back when playing them. I am assuming morey as figured up the projections as good as anybody, and I think 6th seed is where we will land as well. Only thing is I do not think morey thought we were going to lose to the bucks and wizards. So if we fall short by 1 or 2 games that is why. We should have won those games.
Before the losses to the Wizards and Bucks, I was pretty confident that we would get the 6th seed. Now I think we have to rely on the Warriors losing at least three winnable games for that to happen, and also that is predicated upon us winning all winnable games.
