First of all, its Mike Wells of the Indianapolis Star. A very credible source.

Secondly, you dont have to be a jerk. Just passing on the info to fellow Rocket fans.

Well the pacers won't be in the playoffs this year, so it seems like a good fit.

Luther should have spent summers learning to handle the ball...nothing but dribbling drills and made himself into a decent PG.

I never understood how some players can focus so much on shooting and miss out on a good career because they don't recognize what they need to do to really play.

    Weird.

DD, I don't think it's his ball handling as much as it is his decisions with the ball.

Yeah, his handling could use some work, but his problem is that he seems to panic everytime he does handle the ball, which always leads to him making a bad decision. He's a two guard trapped in a point guard's body

his decision making was partly based on the fact that everytime he got the ball it made me and my friends cross our fingers.. hes not a strong dribbler. his decision making could be below parr if you could bring him off the bench to handle the ball, play d, and shoot

100% correct - he just didn't seem to have PG instincts which would give him the ability to make the right read/decision.

Great Cutter, Great Reg. Season Shooter, Clutch at times, but unfortunately a SG in a PG's body

handles aren't something that can just be developed in the offseason, you either are born with them, or you develop them as a kid. luther is a shooter, never going to be a pg, that's just who he is... his handles aren't awful, he's just not a player who can create like a pg

didn't he spend the summer in chicago with tmac at attack?

He does do that, He works and works and works on that stuff.

Basketball IQ is probably the hardest thing in the world to improve. For the most part, If you don't have, you don't have it...

    Done deal

    http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/61636/20090917/pacers_sign_luther_head/

The Indiana Pacers announced Thursday they have signed free agent Luther Head to a contract.

Head, a 6-3, 185-pound guard from Illinois, has played four seasons in the NBA with Houston and Miami. He has a career scoring average of 8.6 points with a career-high of 10.9 in 2006-07 with the Rockets. That same season, Head shot .441 from 3-point range, which was fourth in the NBA that season and third best in Rockets’ history. He is a career 39 percent shooter from beyond the arc. “Luther is a guy we have had our eye on,” said Pacers President of Basketball Operations Larry Bird. “He can shoot, he has speed and quickness and he will fit in well in our up-tempo game. I think he’s going to be a good addition to our basketball team.”
