Not really... it's just a contract. Not significant savings given that it's only $1.2 million, but it can be waived by tomorrow (err today now) at 5pm and cost the receiving team nothing. So as Carl mentioned, a team in luxury tax territory could make a small deal with Houston and save several million in salary and taxes. The goal, of course, would be to just get a boost to the bench ... someone the Rockets can use.
How can anybody say it is a nice haul for Chicago?? Chicago got garbage for a nice player in Deng. Sac first: Doubt they ever see it and if they do, it is mid-late Right to switch firsts lotto protect: Best-case is CHI moving up a couple of spots 2nd rounders: Worthless, teams can buy those easy Chicago got nothing good for Deng.

11-23, gotta make that playoff push! LOL Next up: Carlos Boozer, Taj Gibson (and maybe Mike Dunleavy)
If we could somehow nab Jimmy Butler.. I'm dreaming. Seems like the Bulls want him apart of the future. Maybe Mike Dunleavy Jr is available. He stunned us at free agency but he would be nice to buff out the bench and add some needed shooting.
I don't think they will be in full selloff mode-- need to keep some players to play with Rose when he comes back. They dealt Deng because 1) saves a ton of $, including current year and future tax, and 2) Deng is probably gonna leave/be let go anyway given his upcoming free agency.
Steal for Cavs if they can re-sign Deng. Gave up an unproductive player for a player that fills their biggest need & averages 19pts & 7rbds, also didn't have to give up Waiters or any other major assets. Damn.
In my opinion this will probably turn out to be nothing more than a "meh" deal. Bulls basically get three 2nd rounders, but it's only useful for trade purposes at this stage because they are not available until 2 years down the line. Cavs get what will basically amount to a 4 month rental of Deng. Cavs are 11-23, they may make a push for the playoffs with Deng, but unlikely to make much noise. Deng will likely leave after this season to a contender. A small benefit for both teams, but nothing game changing.
Damn...the Rockets could have put up a better trade offer than that. Deng would have been great on this team.
Unless Sacramento takes a monster leap forward that pick conveyed to Chicago is essentially worthless.
If Cleveland got serious about acquiring asik they could be very formidable. Irving Waiters Deng Tristan Asik Varejao and a pick. Would make me happy. Hell maybe even straight up.Cleveland is making a smart decision here. They gave up crap for a all star elite defensive wing.
Pretty good starting lineup for Cleveland to compete for a playoff spot. But crazy to think they could be in much better shape with better drafting, and hiring someone other than Mike Brown
