Walton was basically given the keys to a Ferrari and allowed to take it around the block a few times.

That doesn't make him a good driver...

I think people might be oversimplifying the success Luke Walton as coach had with the Golden State Warriors team. Even when he was mainly the assistant coach I thought that he might be a special coach some day in the league. The experience he had with the Warriors early in the NBA season possibly only reaffirms My original thought at the moment.

    1. He didn't create their system

    2. He didn't win in the playoffs

    3. He didn't have to integrate new players into the team philosophy

    4. He still called Kerr daily and had him involved

    5. They were rarely in close games where the coaching would've been a difference maker

    6. Your post admits your confirmation bias

He was never given a chance to win in the playoffs, and yes he was possibly tutored by Kerr, is that a bad thing to assume about Walton? All the great coaches were probably tutored by someone, Kerr was probably tutored by Phil Jackson and Gregg Popovich, does that make him less qualified to coach a team? I do not think you can teach a coach to react in a game at spontaneous instances, and he did just fine at that during his tenure with the Golden State Warriors.

If there is someone who may be bias, I think someone may want to look in the mirror. Luke Walton did a great job in My opinion as coach regardless if he was tutored or not, can't teach a coaching intuition, which takes part during the game, not before the game.

How does the post make Me bias at the moment? I have no reason to be bias, I have no affiliation to Walton, I just have an opinion that he brings intangibles as a coach with demeanor and guiding his team spiritually during a game. Now maybe I Am wrong, but that does not make me bias at the moment.

Because you said in your first post that you "Always believed he'd be something special as a coach one day, then extrapolated his minimal span coaching an already developed team that he could do it again.

He's done less than Alvin Gentry, and shouldn't be given any more credence than Gentry.
