of course he is out for an extended time, this is houston after all . =( now we must rally around our own beard, Dallas and win every series from now til the all star break
Has there been a more flukey injury prone player in the league? This sucks but lets hope he comes back strong.
I know there is a clamoring to call up Correa, but I would like to at least give Gonzalez a chance to see what he can do as a regular. He has posted a .730 OPS since the beginning of last season. People are quick to just assume he's gonna revert back to his earlier performance, but I don't see why that's a given. He just turned 26, he doesn't have some long track record of being a terrible hitter. Maybe we have something in him, probably not, but he's worth a good look IMO.
And the idea of letting Correa have some experience adjusting to the adjustments is a pretty sound plan of attack, in terms of progressing his development. Fans need to evolve along with the team. What they were doing 2, 3 - even a year ago is not really relevant anymore; they've clearly moved into phase 2 of this process. I guarnatee you that , as much as I first-hand witnessed Luhnow go on and on and on about Correa, he's as anxious to bring him up as we are. And they'll do it. But this organization doesn't do a lot of lip service. Case in point: they wanted Springer to work on striking out less - doesn't look like that was unfounded. If they think a second pass through the Texas League has relevance, I think we have to trust them.
I think we need to shop Marwin off to another team along with some other prospects to pick up a starting pitcher.
It has more to do with the faith in the future GOAT Carlos Correa than it has to do with the shortcomings of Marwin Gonzalez. Personally, I thought Marwin should have been our starting SS as he earned that job last year, and that Lowrie should have been the starting 3B.
Hopefully Marwin can hit a little bit over the next couple of months and then we can trade him at the deadline. Fontana could put up a .360 OBP in the big leagues immediately.
Lowrie begins his rehab today at Corpus Christi. They say he's going to play mostly 3B and some SS but how can you take Moran out of the lineup with the way he's been hitting?
After what we went through the past several years, I wouldn't say "always" But yea moving forward the needs of the mlb team should come first
They have the DH, so I doubt Moran is benched. His bat will stay in, he doesn't really need the reps at 3rd defensively, Lowrie does.
Damn, I saw the thread title and thought that he hurt himself while rehabbing/practicing. Im happy to find out that's not the case.
