Lou Williams traded to Rockets for Corey Brewer, first round pick

Those who think Gordon is gone are silly. Eric Gordon has been a big part of the Rockets success this year, you think Les will be happy if Gordon gets traded? The Rockets desperately needed a back up point guard, and now they finally have one in Lou Williams. Gordon is staying Houston for a long time.

 

Good article. Interesting that the Lakers can't really run any plays with him on the court. I'd like to see some information on his catch and shoot numbers. I'm guessing he won't be able to play much with Harden.

 

damn man, this makes me feel sad now. he was a good guy, one of the tougher guys on the team. glad i never called him corey sewer like some you jerk offs did!!!

 

Sounds like Harden a bit, except Harden is a willing passer.

 

I didn't realize Lou was drafted out of highschool.

 

Makes sense if he's only 30 yet still in his 12th season already.

 

I don't have actual data to back this up, but his super high corner 3% suggests he must be a good at catch and shooting. You don't really dribble to the corner and pull up right?

I admit I will miss the effort, energy, passion and hustle of Corey Brewer. Ok he couldn't make a shot to save his life but the guy always gave 100% out there, always with a smile to his face, interacted well with the fans and helped the community. I kinda feel sorry for him to be traded to a tanking team. He is a veteran who just wants to be at a top end playoff team. And who can forget game 6 which was the catalyst to the WCF. Thanks Brew

Of course Harden will play the same role (with rare exception). However, Williams is another ball handler that can play the pick and roll and won't be entirely dependent on Harden getting him open shots. He can penetrate and score as well. Having another player that can get to the line also will help Harden.

Williams will be the one hitting shots in the corners, more so than Harden. Williams is very efficient from the corners.

Harden does guard a lot of 3's. However, the Rockets will be able to run a small line up even more often now with Williams.

 

Gonna be dope when in the offseason DM has the ability to trade any of our secondary players (at positive value) to create max space if necessary. He's setting us up to go chase Gordon Hayward.

Shedding Ariza, Lou, KJ in the summer gets us there.

 

Corey was such a nice humble guy, I couldn't root against him. I definitely questioned how D'Antoni used him, though. I've felt bad that everyone his cheering him out of town. I wish him the best of luck with whatever comes next.

 

I was blown away, to see the staggering shooting percentage difference from the corner 3 between Lou and Brewer. Twice as much, is mind-boggling.
Brewer is a nice guy, and he led the challenge against the Clippers in Game 6, but he had to go. Good luck to him.
