Trying to get in better shape, so looking to learn Jiu Jitsu or MMA training. Know any good places around the city to learn (preferably SW Houston)?
I didn't notice that, I went a few times with some free passes about 5 years back but I was doing my real workouts at an mma gym in Lubbock. I mostly just did it as a fun way to get in shape. But ya the prices thing is ****. I know most places have all the different classes and disciplines and then like a cardio class and they have a deal where you get all access
That's what I figured. I was thinking around 200. A lot of crossfit places do the same thing. They offer a free class to get you in there and then Drop the price on you. I get why it's expensive I guess, but I don't like how they're not upfront about it. Price is the most important thing to most people and it'd be nice if they'd let people who can't afford it know right off the bat.
They all run anywhere around $100 it seems. SW Side, I'd recommend Cyborgs gym - ChuteBox https://www.facebook.com/pg/Chute-Boxe-Texas-Team-Cyborg-763951240378778/about/?ref=page_internal https://www.instagram.com/explore/locations/706332346/chute-boxe-texas-team-cyborg/ http://www.mmawin.com/article/chute-boxe-texas-team-cyborg
If you want to get fit, run around and stomp your feet. Stop eating so much, tubby. Do you want to get FIT or actually learn to KICK SOME ASS? Because MMA Training is how you learn to KICK SOME ASS. Who's been picking on you at lunch time, man?
What SCHTICK? I asked the man some questions. He doesn't have to answer. Did I hurt your feelings, man?
Anybody know any good boxing gyms? Have been wanting to learn for a while now. I'm also on the SW side but I'll take suggestions from anywhere.
You need to post more often esp to that dude running 3 accounts - kevinisbacon, smitheyretard and STR888THUG
Just saw this thread. Unfortunately I can't give you much advice about martial arts in Houston as I haven't trained in Houston in a long time. I know that Houston has a very large and vibrant martial arts community though so you should have plenty to select from. I think it's a good idea for everyone to do martial arts but if I will caution you if your main motivation is getting shape. Competitive martial arts like Judo, BJJ, Taekwondo and etc.. will get you into shape but there are many easier and safer ways to get into shape. You're going to have to deal with getting hit, choked out and armbarred and the ever present risk of injury. A lot of people get into competitive martial arts to get into shape and many of them end up quitting. Also depending on what sort of shape you want to get into you might not ge that from martial arts. If you're looking to really bulk up martial arts isn't going to give that to you. In many cases just adding muscle for the sake of adding muscle makes it harder to martial arts. You should get into martial arts because you mainly want to do martial arts and not just for fitness.
