In the SEC? I've been thinking about this a lot while reading all of the college hype magazines. I've had to seek help, but I've come to grips with it and have to express it here, at my home forum. I will be rooting for the Aggies. Hard ****ing core. They did what they had to do, I'm still embarrassed by the whole situation and how Texas brass look, but I am happy with the new BIG 12. I actually like it MUCH better. I'll take the abuse from other Alums, but I had to say it because I'M ****ING HIGH. Gig 'em in the SEC!
Not a chance in hell. A successful A&M in the SEC will be a huge, huge draw for recruits. We're just banking on that not ever happening.
Since the SEC has the huge TV contract, they are on TV all of the time, etc. I really don't see as many future recruits bailing on Texas to A&M just because of the SEC as many think. Texas recruited and won the #1 LB in the country who was Ohio State sure thing, until he met Mack. Sure, we'll lose a few, but we are still TEXAS. I still have the swagger, but in all honesty, I have met more douche Tex Ex's than I ever have A&M alums. Like by 9/1. Seriously, it's almost embarrassing how most of our alums act, even into their 40's. I don't get it.
I like the new big 12 too, I dont know about rooting hardcore but ill be keeping a watchful eye and hope they do good.
I just can't bring myself to root for the Aggies as a Longhorn fan. Just the thought of it makes me sick. I'm sure they feel the same way.
As a former ag, even I think going to the SEC is stupid...they will most likely get slaughtered for years to come and lose the recruiting advantage that they think they have
Thats surprising. Most of the A&M alums I know even in their 40s still think its funny to call texas TU, and still seem to think A&M is the better school. Not trying to egg UT on, but the reason most aggies go there is bc they couldn't get into UT. I know if I was top 10% I would have gone to UT, as would many others (obviously not everyone). So the way A&M alums act, not surprised why it makes UT alums arrogant, they kind of earned it.
LOL, I don't like either alums. The best alums are the ones you don't know are alums until football season. If you've graduated college just let it go already. On the flip side - I'm definitely not rooting for UT in the Big 12. I'm also the guy that wanted the whole thing to implode. Had UT gone to the Pac 12 it would have been fun to support them vs the overrated west coast schools.
I doubt I'll root for A&M. But I will be watching them with interest during SEC conference play. Very curious to see how they'll perform. Most likely, they'll struggle big time.
Repped for your refreshing candor. You too. It's cool to be proud of where you went to school and support your team, but I feel sad for those 40-year old guys who's whole identity and self-worth revolves around where they went to college 20 years ago.
Yeah, I know too many douche Tex Ex. It's annoying, but I deal. All the Aggies/fans of Aggies I know... They're nice people sometimes, but they are bat **** cult crazy.
