After watching games 6 and 7 of the 1994 NBA finals on nba.com TV yeasterday, it gave me a chance to reflect on what a long season this has been.

And after reading the sports page this morning, I noticed that the Rockets are behind the Dallas Mavericks in the standings. This is the franchise that brought in The Worm this season, hired Del Harris as "Defensive Coordinator", and consistently competed with the LA Clippers for the worst team of '90s title.

My question is this, when was the last time the Rockets finished behind the Mavericks in the standings? My guess would be when Dallas had Haper, Agguire, and Roy Tarpley, but what year was that? 1989 perhaps? Anyway, here's hoping the Rockets can make a late run to save themselves the embarrassment of finishing behind the Mavericks.
