Hawks head coach Lon Kruger was fired this afternoon after a better-than-Lakers record of 11-16. Kruger compiled a 69-122 record as coach of the Hawks. Assistant Terry Stotts will take over. The amazing thing is that just hours before, the Atlanta Thrashers head coach Kurt Fraser was fired and replaced with GM Don Waddell. Both the Hawks and Thrashers are owned by AOL Time Warner. You gotta feel bad for the Hawks. They were supposed to be so good this year and even promised season ticket holders a $125 refund if they fail to make the playoffs. Poor Hawks, poor, poor Hawks.
I feel sorry for them. They should make the playoffs. They have the lowest attendance in the league. And now they have to return the money to all the viewers. That was a bad idea. Hopefully Glenn Robinson will help this team.
I don't see why their doing so poorly, especially in the East. They've got players at every position.
They are only refunding $125.00 per season ticket. In 2001-2002 they sold around 4000 season tickets. They probably did not sell too many more this year, so they will "only" have to pay out around $500,000.
Didn't watch them much. But didn't they have Rattlif who I think guarded Yao Ming quite well when we played them?
Not really. Just a $125 refund to every season ticket holder. And that doesn't amount to anything significant for them. That's their least concern I suppose.
Like this will make a difference. Glen Rob is a nice scorer, but that's it...his game is limited to that. They may have talent, but they don't know how to play well together...yet. Who knows if this particular group of guys ever will. Besides, they don't have a STAR. Any playoff team needs at least that 1 star that teams will work their defense around and prepare for.
