Context is DJ is stupid BB IQ wise whereas Capela actually has his **** together. Context is Capela's money is only 18M a year whereas DJ is making 25M this year. Context is we want Capela to get his incentives because his incentives include being an All Star. Context is DJ won't just decline "eventually", he is already freaking 30 yrs old he can decline as early as next year just look at Dwight Howard only 32 yrs old went from superstar to srcub. Context is if he is so good Dallas fans won't make a thread wanting him gone, here he is bodying up their franchise jewel just to get a rebound: https://247sports.com/nba/mavericks/Board/103445/Contents/Get-Deandre-outa-here-124074358/?Page=4 And here is Cp3 wanting to kick his ass: No matter how much you dress it up everybody knows Clint at 18M is much better than Jordan at 25M.
It's 80-90 million. Not 18 million. In the larger context DJ's context is much, much better. DJ will not make 80-90 million over the next 5 years. Context matters.
Mavs fans seem to think so from what I'm seeing on the realGM forum. Something about the chemistry being terrible and all the players focusing on their stats over winning. Makes sense considering the team doesn't have a long-term core and over half the team is expiring.
Thanks. I thought I saw some comments on Twitter where DJ and Wes Mathews are just doing their thing, they are buddies. And that perhaps they aren't meshing with Luka etc. Something interesting to watch. DJ seems to be having a good year. But it is only a 1 year deal. So he might be moving on next year. Same with Mathews, tbh.
What's the problem? Doncic should be pivoting, turning the other way, and sprinting down court looking for the outlet. Jordan securing rebounds. That's what he's paid to do.
So you became a dallas fan thats what you telling us? So stop dick riding dj. Sounds like dick jogger the way you speaking about him.
Yeah because DJ will be too old by then lol. He is already 30 years old he will be lucky to get vet min by year 5. In contrast Capela will be in his prime in 5 years and will be worth more than 18M per year.
hilarious. ever since this thread was made. CC in 30+ mins has gotten 6 straight double doubles, while DJ hasn't done anything & the mavs are continuing to lose. lmao but hey, you won't hear much in that time span. i wonder why #contextmatters
Context does matter. The teams are in two different places. DJ isn't playing alongside Harden and Paul. It's that simple. DJ and Capela derive their numbers from other guys throwing the ball up to them and by being the only big on the floor to gobble up boards. But what's not in the stat sheets is their defense DJ is the superior defender...still.
I watched the first quarter of last night's game. DJ is definitely a problem for the Mavs. He's not even close to engaged. Looks like he doesn't want to be there. Is playing horrible defense overall. Etc. The rebound issue is common sense. He is getting paid to defend and rebound. That doesn't mean boxing out your own teammates, pushing your own teammates, and creating dangerous situations for your own teammates by fighting for a rebound that was clearly going to them. That's just dumb. Stuff like this doesn't need to be debated. It's common sense.
Mavs and that Harrison Barnes contract, almost as dumb as the Parsons contract. 23 million for an effective field goal % of .420. At least that inefficiency is only assaulting the team at a pace of 15 ppg.
