Then the 3rd team would have to be a team under the cap, which can absorb those contracts without sending anything back to Miami. So Sacramento.

And Houston is still likely better than they are at full health....

Till Harden is old and washed lol. It takes 2 to tango though, so I can’t put all the pressure on Morey. I mean he offered 4 FRP so that shows me he’s trying to work with what we have. He’s fighting 2 things presumably:

Cap Hell- which we can’t really put all towards the Ryan Anderson contract, you have to offer CP3 market value instead of letting him walk for nothing, the Capela contact was excellent! Seems like Tilman talks a big game but isn’t really interested in spending unless he sees immediate dividends.

Hesitant Front Offices: Teams are not wanting to create another super team which would extend their timeline at contending, so you have us only receiving lowball offers that don’t greatly effect our chances. The big fish get dealed to lesser teams, or teams with more cap flexibility/assets.

The Rockets are left only being able to control what they can control which is the luxury tax, with the hopes of that mitigating at least 1 of the variables Morey has to fight to build a contending team. So IMO Morey gets the benefit of the doubt because he’s fighting a lot more variables then what we see on the surface.

Lol uhmmmm. They just recently blew us out on national TV. We didn’t have Capela, but they didn’t have Harris, who is an all star caliber player. The jury is still out on that one. If we played in a series, harden would be the best player, then they have the next best 4 after that.

It might be worse than that.

Basically harden would get drafted 1st on that list (except by some media members).

Out of the next 10 players to be picked, 7 would be Nuggets probably. The order would just depend on where you took Capela, Paul and Gordon in the group.

because our assets are sh*tty, and nobody wants to help Morey

Does Morey have no friends? No blackmail options? No guys who owe him a favor?

Need a better player coming back if we’re giving up a first round pick.

Really good read. I'd rather go with Green Temple over Burks. But Burks is an expiring and when healthy, a good player.

The Grizzlies and Rockets have also discussed a trade involving point guard Brandon Knight and Marquese Chriss, according to league sources. Houston has been trying to dump Knight’s salary, which is on the books for $15.6 million next season, and will attach a first-round pick to get it done. It’s expected that Memphis would send JaMychal Green and Garrett Temple to the Rockets. The fate of Conley and Gasol comes first, though.

    • The Thunder are said to have interest in Burks as they scope out the market for a backup wing, according to league sources. Oklahoma City has a $10.9 million traded-player exception to use to absorb a salary. The Thunder have also inquired about Hawks forward Taurean Prince, who I reported was available last month on The Ringer NBA Show. In addition to the Thunder, league sources say the Sixers and Blazers have expressed interest in the 3-and-D forward.
    • The Clippers’ deal sending Harris to the Sixers for Shamet and picks is a sign that they aren’t prioritizing making the playoffs this season. If the Clippers miss the postseason, they will keep their top-14 protected first-round pick that’s owed to the Celtics (and it would become top-14 protected in 2020). Expect them to be active over the next day: Patrick Beverley, Lou Williams, and Danilo Gallinari could all help a playoff contender.

The Thunder who are way into the repeater tax are looking to absorb Burks whole contract while the Rockets are trying desperately to dump money even if it reduces their odds of getting better.

They should be spending the MLE regardless to putting the best talent on the floor for James Harden.

If doing a deal like this "opens up the use of the MLE" then we have a problem. It should be open regardless.

Correct. And under team control for another season. Getting Bazemore would be like when the Rockets got Lou Will.

Does Burks get minutes ahead of Gerald Green? IDK
Does Bazemore get minutes ahead of Gerald Green? Absolutely.

Huge difference. The key is though, Bazemore is paid 17M next season. Burks comes off the books. Don't buy a team if you aren't willing to pay for talent.

Men I consider next year “now” as well. If a little more flexibility helps with the “now” of the next few years I’m on board.

If all we get out of this deadline is Burks and Green, that's a total and utter failure. I sure hope Morey surprises us, because the news leaking out isn't great.

They can do that because they have a trade exception of nearly $11m and don't have to match salaries. We don't have such a TPE.

Burks makes more than OKC’s TPE, so OKC can’t absorb him with the TPE.
