I think you nailed it with this post. Morey knows we need a 3/4. My hope is that he can get something done by the deadline. I don't want that dark cloud of uncertainty at our forward positions to haunt us going into next year's post season.
If any of these scrubs are in the rotation, either we're completely ****ed or they're playing out of their minds.
lotta good players out there. trust in morey. he whipped up some magical transactions mid-season last year.
Bennett has a chance to make the roster. I’d be surprised if one of the other two do. My guess is Bennett plus a minimum signing like a thabo or someone
I think we would look at things differently this offseason if Jerami Grant was INCLUDED in the Westbrook trade to Houston. Thing is, even if he was available at the time AND FILLED A HUGE NEED....you have to question if Tilman would have OKed the extra expense for a *non-star.*
Letting Shumpert walk is going to be so mind-numbingly stupid, but it appears they’re really about to do it. Cannot believe it.
It will be the final step to tell us what we already know. Too bad Morey isn't allowed to use all of the tools for team building.
It’s worse than that.... it is “trade for player X”, “don’t spend into the tax”, “trade assets Y,Z to get out from under contract A”.... and at the all star break or in June the owner is likely going to say “Why aren’t we winning more, why didn’t you do something?”... “Why isn’t the chemistry better.” The whole situation isn’t fair to the front office.
Cannot imagine Morey dealing with this for too much longer. After Harden’s prime is done, he’s probably out of here.
The counter point is....Tilman might grow out of *new owner syndrome* and get a better handle on roster building. Timan extended Morey to be the GM of the team. Tilman needs to show faith in his employee to do his job. Not meddle.
Yeah I’m not saying he is someone we failed to get. Just saying a team acquiring him for a late first rounder was a hell of a deal and we so could have used a move like that
Not a big believer in Tilman. We will probably have to roll with what we got. Harden with Brodie is enough provided that their heart stays into it.
I'm still shocked that they got him for that price. The fact that they were able to snag him from a team in their own division for only a FRP just pisses off. He checks off just about everything we need at this point too.
Personally, I think the Rockets are going with the players they have unless a trade materializes. If they were going to sign another free agent it would have been done by now. It makes no sense for the team or the player.
I assumed they waited because they’ll only take on veteran minimum contracts to preserve the MLE. Last year I kept saying “why won’t they make James Ennis an offer?” for weeks, then no one offered him money and they got him for minimum. I can’t imagine they don’t try the same with Jonathan Simmons.
