If anybody's been following Funky Winkerbean, you probably know about Lisa's battle with breast cancer. Well, she died in today's strip. I thought her death would have happened on a Sunday strip. Yeah, I have no life... http://www.chron.com/apps/comics/showComick.mpl?date=20071004&name=Funky_Winkerbean
I remember a Sunday strip a decade ago that was a single panel of a suicide by overdose. That stuck with me.
Well, I know it's not as upbeat as a crack w**** snorting cocaine off her baby's stomach, but I figured a few people might want to know. I was following it just out of sheer, morbid curiosity. I was going to start a Lisa death pool...oh well... Really, the only comics worth reading these days are Get Fuzzy, FoxTrot, and Tank MacNamara. Garfield is still good for a chuckle, but it's not as good as it used to be...
I haven't read comic since the Post stopped running. America can't grasp soldiers dying in a propaganda fueled oil war but are hurt over a cartoon character that "dies". Sad.
Lisa should have consulted Mary Worth before her untimely demise, but that is just my opinion - what do I know?
But..she didn't really die of cancer. In fact, she never lived. She's just a magnet of your fignation.
