Was this the showing on the 4th @ 10:30pm at Amc 30 on Dunvale? I went to that showing and noticed HPD escorting two people to their car. We knew they were famous but never found out who they were... anyone see this??
One audience member stood up to say "thank you for making something I can bring my child to." Others had questions for Mr. Leong about Mr. Lin's romantic life, which is nonexistent in the film. Mr. Leong said "90%" of Mr. Lin's life is basketball—10% is videogames, and for anything else, "you'd have to ask Jeremy." Teddy Zee, Producer 6 hours ago · Linsanity opens to $103K, giving the docu about the rise of the NBA’s Chinese American point guard Jeremy Lin a solid $11,444 average. The pic has also been the top documentary all weekend on iTunes. The figure is notable considering it bowed in 9 theaters. Other docus such as Act Of Killing had higher averages but opened in fewer theaters ($27,450 in 1 theater for Act Of Killing in July, $13,527 in 2 theaters for Stories We Tell in May, $18,199 for 20 Feet From Stardom in 3 theaters in June). “Fans came out to cheer this incredible underdog story”, Ketchup said this morning. “Additional screens were added in both New York and Los Angeles to accommodate demand. It is so gratifying to see audiences embrace Jeremy Lin’s story and cheer with us for the film. We have had a fantastic collaboration with the producer team, Christopher Chen, Brian Yang, Allen Lu and filmmaker Evan Leong.” https://www.facebook.com/TeddyZeeProducer/posts/531812443565492
It was second behind Gravity in average per theater this weekend. http://boxofficemojo.com/weekend/chart/?view=main&yr=2013&wknd=40&sort=avg&order=DESC&p=.htm

Attendance is expected to be low. One of the reasons is that a lot of people have already watched it on internet video streaming sites. Nobody wants to pay full price for something they can watch for a few bucks at home.
you can say that about other movies. it's low attendance because it's a niche documentary. Gravity is the #1 movie in America, it's more a mainstream block buster. documentaries usually do not have that wide of a release and target audience.
Saw it yesterday at the dunvale location. Always a fan of feel good sports stories. Although if you follow basketball, you basically know the whole story with "linsanity" already so in terms of anything new in the documentary there really isn't much. I did enjoy the clips of Lin and his family when all of them were younger, kinda cool to see. It's a really well put together documentary, so all of you guys should go see it.
