haha well I do like the idea of having a lottery pick, just think how great it would be if we beat the lakers in a 7 game series with our teams as is. Haha it would be the greatest thing ever, the experts would of picked the lakers to sweep us, and we would get to watch kobe and gasol cry. PLAYOFFS PEOPLE!!!

we should get to the playoffs and get more expeireince for next year when we go to win it all because we dont need a draft pick because morey has promised to be active during free agency and the rockets get yao back next yeaar and our team is good anyways.

if the lakers best offense becomes artest posting up on martin i'll take our chances. artest can't stop martin on the other end at all.

if kobe is getting 35 points on 40-% shooting im sure we win.

obviously drawing denver would be nicer, but realistically....lakers is beatable too. we've done it already.

    This, and only this.

If it were any team BUT the Lakers, I would rather have the pick. The Lakers are the most talented team in the league; I'd rather us get swept by them for experience than get an early pick.

To get playoff experience against the Lakers, whether we get swept, sweep them, or something in between is much, much better than getting a pick.

Someone in this thread also said the difference isn't that great between the 14th and 18th/19th pick, which I also agree with.

I wonder what Morey and Adelman think about "playoff experience."

    Playoffs.

I think Morey can grab some solid, solid talent with a pick in the late teens or early twenties. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if he ended up picking the same guy with the 20th pick that he would with the 14th pick.

Playoffs for sure. We arent going to get a higher pick even if we flopped. Stern doesn't like that we flopped in 83 to get akeem. He rigged the 85 draft

Every professional sports team has to play to win. There are no exceptions. Throwing games for a chance at a higher draft pick is stupid and unfair to the fans who pay money to watch these games. As Herm Edwards put it, "you play to win the game!"

There is no reason to tank at this point. There aren't enough games to make an impact, and if they wanted to tank, they would have done so earlier. Now, all that's left is for the Rockets to keep playing their best and try to complete the Cinderella story.

I'd rather make the Playoffs even though those chances are slim at this point. There's also the chance that the player we want will still be on the board in the mid-1st round so no point in tanking.

We might get the 12th-14th pick instead of 15th-17th pick. Then it's playoffs or no playoffs.

I really don't see why anyone would want to tank. It's not like we're completely losing our pick.

If the Rockets win enough to get a 0.592 record and the 8th seed, they drop to the 19th spot. We would be picking around 20th spot, like we do every season.

    Picks 1-14 Lottery
    15th Toronto (0.500)
    16th Charlotte(0.507)
    17th Miami(0.514)
    18th Milwaukee (0.559)
    19th Houston (0.592)
    20th San Antonio(0.603)
    21st Oklahoma(0.618)

The 15th-17th spot is out of reach. If the Trailblazers lose every single game, it would put them at 42-40. The Rockets would need at least 43-39(0.524) record, which is already better than the Raptors 0.500(15th), Charlotte 0.507 record(16th), and Miami 0.514(17th).
