    http://blogs.laweekly.com/informer/2012/04/stacie_halas_fired_porn_teacher.php

Basically, her p*rn name is Tiffany Six and appeared in p*rn films before she became a science teacher for 7,8th grader at a LA area middle school. Her students found her in a few clips online and reported her to the school disctrict last month. Now, let's not talk about those little rotten rats. I know the temptation. Anayways, she was suspended immediately and hired a lawyer to appeal for her reinstatment.

The question to all you liberals here, would you reinstate her?

    Here is my take:
I supose that issue here is not that she committed something illegal. p*rn is legal in Cali and she did it before she became a teacher, allegedly 6 years ago.
However, some prefessions require a little extra upon the professionals in the business. For example, lying, convicted or not, is consider very serious infraction in fiancial service and will result in immdediate dismissal. Lawyer cannot take bankruptcy lightly because in some circumstances it may be considered a negative reflection on their fitness to practice.
Now, are teachers held to higher standard beyond what's legal. I would say so. But is appearing in p*rn before becoming serious enough to fire her?
People have done crazy things in their lives especically when they are young. Obama and Clinton amditted they smoked pot in college. But is appearing in p*rn for a teacher a little bit different from, say, wasted in private parties or swing clubs :)? As a parent, I probably wouldn't want my kid to be taught by her.
That said, she is fine to look at though. And of course, the real point is that you need to look at the video to speak about her. Search Tiffany Six videos.

Why is this a question only for Liberals? Libertarians might have something to say here as well.

Anyway, probably not as a teacher. Even if she was the best teacher ever and has been exemplary in her behavior over the last 6 years, having someone who used to do p*rn teach your kids science is probably too much for some parents to overcome. Particularly if she's teaching, oh, biology.

I might consider keeping her in a non-teaching position like curriculum or teacher support or something, but I suspect her days as a teacher are done. Now, if she lied on her application, then she is gone regardless.

As long as she is a good teacher now, and doesn't let her past affect her future, I see no reason why she shouldn't be able to teach.

Of course; you don't want to just have coaches or assistant principals teaching p*rn.

But, really, what is it about being in p*rn so offensive to parents, even if she is the best teacher ever? I can't describe it. I mean people, including teachers, have stuff in their closets. Do we fire teachers for crazy stuff they have done in college parties in the past? If it were because we don't want a p*rn actress to be a teacher, do we want someone with crazy private sex epsiodes to be a teaher? Where is the line on this one, and why? l If I were the superintendent of her district, I probably couldn't convince myself to fire her for good irregardless of her performance as a teacher.

I agree that she probably will not be reinstated.

I would walk into her room after class, sit on her desk and tell her she's been a bad bad teacher. Then the music starts....

I don't like the thread title, but aside from that, as long as she's a great science teacher, I could care less about her background before becoming an educator. People change. Someone of consequence said something along the lines of, "Judge not, that ye be not judged." I think that applies here.

I appologize for the title. With that, I didn't mean to call out anybody, but the intention was to keep the discussion away from arguments like dencency, role model, etc. Not necessarile, those are bad arguments. They are just somewhat predictable and there is not need to rehash it.

Now, the question to you sir is if it were your kid that goes to her class and the kid tells you about her, and possibly has seen the clips, what would be your response to the kid? Would you tell your kid, an 8th grader,"Judge not, that ye be not judged." I wouldn't and I would call the school district right away for the removal of her. Not that I think she is too indecent to be a teacher. Goodness, I like watching p*rn myself. But just when it comes to her being the teacher of my kid, I just can't say don't judge as long as she is a fine science teacher.
But if I were put in the position to decide whether to fire her, I yet probably couldn't find a reason to do so as you suggested.
    I can't square the two.

Once the rumors get out and all the kids (and dads) google the pictures, it would be disruptive to the school environment.

Actions have consequences in the real world that may not be justified.

Kids and dads (like me) goodle "pictures and videos" all the time. Com'on now, disruptive to the school environment where kids date each other as early as in grade school?

She did that, according to herself and the p*rn studio, before she became a teacher. Is teacher required to bear consequence of their actions than anybody else. We wouldn't fire an accountant because of that, would we?

The first thing I'd ask my kid would be, "What the hell are you doing watching crap like that on the internet? Are the "parental controls" at home not working?" The next thing I'd do is check his grades. If she's doing a good job of teaching science, then she's doing what I would expect her to do. I'm sure she wishes she could make it impossible for her background to become known, and in the past, perhaps she could have. It's a damn shame that she's moved on from that part of her life, yet can't keep it from ruining the new life she's trying to make for herself. I also think it's the height of hypocrisy to watch p*rn, and at the same time, condemn someone who made a living creating the kinds of things that you enjoy watching. There's a dichotomy there that I find disturbing. I certainly can understand why someone who despised p*rnography would be upset. While I think those people should also give someone a chance at a different life, at least they are being consistent.

    That's my trouble. Well said.
If you trully wouldn't mind having her as your kid's teacher as long as she is doing good job teaching, you are more liberal than I am.
Now, did you see her videoes? Seriously.

Thanks! I try to be consistent. I don't know if I've seen anything she was in. Can you post a filmography? :-D-

I meant filming p*rn. I think FL is the other state, where that is legal.
