Should have been a poll thread so we could have the results.

    YES, CONDITIONALLY!

We would have to equalize it w/ a trade to balance out the glut at the three spot.

Rashard, Rice, Boki, Tmo, KT, Griffin

That is half the team that could conceivably play the 3 spot if you don't make a trade. Yea, you could adjust this somewhat w/ the IR or 4 spot but you still have 6 guys who can play the 3 and that is too manyon one team, IMO.

I know you want the simple vote, but there's too much to consider.

    - How good is Boki?
    - DOes he want a big pay day later?
    - Is he willing to be the 3rd or 4th option?
    - Is he willing to try to play D

Here's my answer. Yes, I'd like to sign him for 2 years, with NO promise of a pay day. Of course, if he plays well, improves, and our team does good, then he SHOULD get his pay day.

I'd be willing to give him a pay day later, if he's good, for these reasons:

    - He seems to be improving himself all the time
    - Mo T's contract HAS to go SOMEtime, because Griff is the future
    - Rice's contract is up in 2 years
    - In 2 years, we can unload Cato for short contracts and picks, because Ming will finally be "there".

This payday, of course, is no more than what Seattle is offering at this instant. 7 years, $60M.

It would be nice to think what this team can do in 2 years:

    Ming
    Griffin
    Lewis
    Mobley
    Francis

Yes of course he wants a big pay day later. This is all about the money. He won't be willing to be a 4th option on offense. He's playing for a contract, not to better the team.

Well, the Rockets wouldn't be able to offer him anything more than the MCE after 2 years. Regardless, once he's due his pay raise, and he will want the max, whose money does he take? Francis? Griffin? Ming? Cat? The entire bench? This team is stacked with talent and Griffin and Ming should be joining Francis in max deals. There aren't enough balls and bills to go around with Lewis.

Well I think you can, but you would probably be paying some luxury tax.

    Negativo!!!!

Why rent a player for a few years on the off chance he is going to better than what you have already got. He may be a good player now and for years to come, but he is going to want big money from someone in a few years and if you lose him /don't want him then you have wasted the time not developing Nachbar and TMo or others. He hasn't proven he is worth it yet. Why do you think Seattle ain't forking out max bucks ???????. Who needs and wishes for a player of the type Lewis thinks he is more than Seattle. They ain't believers. Why should we be?.

The poll option wasn't turned on when I posted this. I'll collect the results later this afternoon unless someone else would like to do the dirty work.

pimp, email me if you want a ticket for Smeggy's honeymoon Rockets game.

    to answer the question:

Not for one year. That would be meaningless. He wouldn't get Bird Rights; we won't have cap room like we did with Shandon and Mo; we couldn't give him a raise; so he'd just use us for one yr and go free agency all over again next yr when more teams have more cap space to spend.

I want the team locked in.

3yr or more...in a second. Less than 3, go away Rashard, you aren't that good. You are only worth the MCE to begin with, so there is no wink-wink deal...just sign a 3+ MCE.
