Smith is that much better that he has to play on a min. contract for 1 year. At this point there isn't much separation. Smith's bball iq is definitely worse.
That's kind of foolish. I would have taken the better money and stayed on the better team looking to win a championship. Jones' BBIQ is pretty weak as well....his shot selection may be better than Smith's but Smith is much better defensively when it comes to BBIQ than Jones. Even with the better shot selection, Smith shoots better than Jones with the exception of the FT line. If Jones improves to where he's as good as Smith was last year, our backup PF spot is solid and I'll be really impressed by him.
He left so he could play significant minutes on another playoff team where he could show that he is worth a big contract after next season's salary increase. Here he would have to fight for minutes with DMo/Tjones and the 1123124 PF's we drafted.
not going to get into back and forths when it comes to TJ. everyone knows your stance on him without even objectivity
I would expect you wouldn't want to because you know I'm right. You can't even make a case for Jones over Smith and you know it.
not really because its wasted time when it comes to anything regarding Jones. Your arguing for a player that is playing for the minimum for a year at 29 yrs old. It's better to just wait and watch smith shoot 20% from 3pt again and be inefficient as can be in LA.
Last season Jones shot 22% from 3 while Smith shot 34% from 3 when you look at regular season and post-season numbers together. By all means, if you think you can make a case for Jones over Smith, I think you should. The assumption is that you can't.
you fail to acknowledge the sample size in number of games. you fail to recognize the significant injury to TJ. you actually have to combine reg and post season to make that point. you talk about 3% but fail to recognize their fg%. TJ actually recognizes when to take 3s as opposed to smith who will chuck 6-8 3s during games. the whole point was right now not much separates the two yet you still believe smith is so much higher. again ill just wait til smith goes back to his subpar %'s in LA.
yeah....because I'm going for the largest sample possible. Jones is better than the 22% 3 point shooter he was last season, but he's not the 34% 3 point shooter that Smith was last season.....even with him "chucking" and Jones taking them at the "right time". Right now what separates them is that Smith is a much better defender and 3 point shooter while also being capable of running an offense sometimes.
Come playoff time, Smith > jones without a doubt. I'm not just talking about the threes he hit. The and dunk show he put on with Dwight against the mavs was ridiculous. Van Gundy said it best when we were playing against the clips. "right now josh smith is playing like he believes he's better than Blake". Obviously hea not better, but He had the right attitude.
The irony is Blake and Deandre are going to play 36+ minutes a game leaving Smith less competition for more limited minutes. At least in Houston he had an opportunity to split the minutes at PF AND play some backup C. In LA he's a backup at 2 positions and there is little to no chance he gets crunchtime minutes - not even at the 3 because of Pierce and Lance.
I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't promise him minutes at the 3. You can promise him anything you want. The Rockets promised him a starting job until he proved that DMo was just straight up superior to him. He ended up getting it back in the playoffs because DMo was out with injury, but the point is you can promise him something you know he's not good enough for then just show him it's a terrible idea so you don't have to do it very long.
I'm sure Doc privately expressed more minutes to nearly everyone on that roster. If I were a Clippers fan, I would be extremely concerned - that roster has about as equal a chance to completely implode on itself with Egos and head cases as it does to be the best in the West. I just wonder what happens when they have a rough patch where they lose a few in a row, and then Chris Paul is alienating Jordan, Smith & Lance are sulking, people start complaining about minutes, and the team is complete drama.
