Anyone else suddenly have a chilling and scary thought that one day Clutch might put this site up for sale?

Can you explain what he did to Kemah and Galveston? I'm out of the loop and I live near there, pretty new to the area

If the Rockets are relocated, i would quit all sports forever. I would not watch a single sporting event ever again. No SuperBowl even if the Texans made it, no World Series even if the Astros made it, no amazing wire to wire 7 game NBA Finals series. Nothing. B.c as much as i love to root for the Texans etc, no team means more to me than the Houston Rockets. Take that away form me and my desire for sports would be dead.

I'll reserve judgment on if this is good or bad news when we get our new owner.

    Until then, I'll miss Les.

He turned a wonderful Galveston Bay village into an amusement park. As someone who's a Houston native and went to Galveston and Kemah before many of you were born, more than likely, I wouldn't be surprised if the "old" Kemah is something you never experienced. And you won't, because Fertitta ruined the place. Now it could be "Anywhere, USA." Enjoy. I'll get into Galveston some other time.

Wanted to add that that was an excellent question. :)

Do the Rockets have to move to the East as a condition of the sale?

Agreed about Kemah. I lived there from '77-80, graduating from CCHS. It looks totally different now compared to back then. For instance, my parents had to sell their property because the value shot through the roof and they couldn't afford the property taxes.

He built businesses that make money there including a giant Landrys carnival.

People who tend to hate the commercialization of things would hate what he's done in Kemah and the Pleasure Pier. I think Deckard is an Austin hippie (no offense Deck!) so it would make sense that he would consider that "ruining" those places. Personally I think the Pleasure Pier is pure junk and I have no real opinion on the Kemah boardwalk.

Property values shot through the roof

Some people call that ruining, some people call that improving.

Wasn't Galveston in need of some rebuilding as well?

Right, he built the pleasure pier after the hurricane I think. I think it's a crappy amusement park but I can't say that's "ruining" anything. People do go there it's always crowded. Ruining what you want something to be isn't really "ruining" it per se.

Depends on whether you intend to sell your property and bank out, or you really want to stay but financially unable to. It was an affordable place at one time, but it's gotten ridiculously expensive to live there now.

i take back every bad thing i ever said about Les. The devil you know is better than the devil you don't. And at least he wants to WIN ...passionately.

Don't sell the team Les. Hang in there another decade.

    WOW...

I'm totally ignorant about this process.
    1) Why might a new owner be a good thing (what are we looking forward to that might be better)?
    2) Why might a new owner be a bad thing (what are you scared of changing)?
