"Bleacher report first reported the opt outs"

Well then, I guess they've now become a credible source!

It's all a set up. He'll take a pay cut and it will look like he's the hero of it all when they land a good FA because he is the one who is expected to get the max but doesn't take it.

He's not going anywhere, I'm sure now. By drafting his man crush Napier and the 3 guys opting out to create cap space they have done everything single thing he can possibly expect from them.

If Lebron is not taking a pay cut, then I'm not either.

I'm taking this straight to my HR Dept

I still probably see him taking less than max in the end, but umm... how is what you say different from him stating he'll take a paycut in the first place?

Public perception isn't going to change because of the timing. Other NBA fans would still cry conspiracy/collusion. Miami fans wouldn't care as long as he's back.

    LeBron deserves a max contract.
Wade obviously does not and I'd argue Bosh should probably get more than Wade.

well if he comes to Houston he can get ~19M vs his ~20M in Miami and have a better roster...

If I am LeBron I'm seriously thinking about going to Chicago.
Houston maybe, but the leastern conference is always going to be attractive.

Yeah maybe LeBron doesn't want to be the man and carry his team, but he has the ability to and he should be forced to. I really wonder why this guy doesn't want to be on Sportscenter every single night with the amount of talent and skill this guy has.

Even if he gets the max he's still underpaid by about $20 million.

This has been posted in the wade and bosh opt out thread a couple of times. That being said, hows it going to look to his teammates when wade and bosh take less money and bron takes the max?

It will look just fine considering they are the Miami Cavaliers now. LeBron > Bosh + Wade.

Lebron says I'm the f'ing alpha on this team. I get the max. You other guys take paycuts if you want me to stay here and get you rings and glory.

Well if you look at Wade and Bosh's contributions the last 2 final games the Heat they definitely deserve a pay cut. IIRC Bosh and Wade combine for like 9 pts last season, and this season they didn't show up again.

It's better if he doesn't. Duncan started taking paycuts when he was like 35. Superstars in their prime should make the max for competitive balance.
