I don't put much stock in that, but a team with Embiid, Simmons, and LeBron would be incredibly entertaining... especially if they figure out what in the world is the issue with Markelle Fultz.
The reason LBJ won't go there or the Lakers is they can't beat GSW. It's just that simple. He NEEDS championships. I could see them or Boston getting Kawhi and George will end up somewhere but until AD moves those are about as big players you will see move. Cousins is a ? None can compete with the Rockets. For LBJ he is definitely leaving and is only doing so to win it all, nothing else. Money is a given.
To me that would be opposite of entertaining. It’s like reverse rockets. The floor spacing on that team would be atrocious. Simmons can’t shoot outside 10 feet and Fultz forgot how to shoot all together.
The pitch for the Rockets is they're a sure thing(or as close to one as it gets in professional sports). Philly has some question marks. Will Simmons develop a jump shot next season? Can Embiid stay healthy? Will they be able to resign outside shooters like Redick and Belinelli? What can Fultz contribute? If any one of those doesn't work out for the Sixers, LeBron may have trouble beating the Celtics, never mind the Warriors. Same with the Lakers. Let's assume Paul George is going there. He and LeBron would make a great duo. But what about the rest of the team? Are Randle, Ingram, Kuzma, and Ball a good enough supporting cast to overcome the Warriors AND the Rockets? There's a better than good chance Golden State and Houston would be the top 2 seeds again(barring injuries). So going to LA not only puts him in a situation where he's betting everything on a bunch of untested, unproven players in their early 20's on a franchise that hasn't made the postseason in half a decade, but he's subjecting himself to a playoff run that likely includes the Rockets, Warriors, and either the Celtics or Sixers. That's gonna be taxing for a guy who'll be 34 next year.
