    eh, it is a competition within the U.S. but the world's best basketball players are in the NBA. The Spurs or Heat could beat any team from any other league.

    Also, even if we're just counting international play Lebron has been a world champion 2 times.

    Its the greatest basketball league in the world, I think its warranted. Same as baseball and football, though those two dont have competition outside of here.

    UEFA Champions League is considered the most prestigious club competition in the world but none of their champions say they are World Champions.

    That's comparing apples to carrots. Because in soccer there are so many leagues. Bocas Junior, Chivas, River Plate or Corinthians, have enough talent to make noise if they could in for the UEFA championship. And Corinthians has.

    But outside of the Spanish league, the NBA has no real pro competition. The greatest athletes in the sport compete in the NBA. In soccer, they can still be in Argentina or Brasil.
