Ditto. We've been many times but always seem to discover something new when we walk. Plus, you gotta walk off those buffets (and drinks...)! There are several trams you can take advantage of if you do get tired of walking. There's one long one on the Paris side that runs behind all the hotels. Just get a day pass and ride is as much as you want. It runs the entire length of the strip, I believe. There's also a couple of trams on the City Center side - one that goes from the Monte Carlo to the Bellagio and another that goes from the Mirage to Treasure Island. Both are free.
We went 3 weekends back. We stayed at Ceasar's but pretty much had access to all the casinos and hotels along that entire stretch. We also had some passes which allowed us access to Tao Beach, Tao night club and a bunch of other places for free. One thing I noticed on this trip is the increase in the booths and people trying to sell you on the timeshare thing. Be aware of them.
It is enjoyable. It's one of the rare places that may be fairly uncrowded (by Vegas standards at least) at 6PM, and then becomes extremely crowded at Midnight.
i just got back from LV this past weekend. Didn't really have much of an issue for the surges. If there was a surge it was very slight and still cheaper compared to a taxi. Airport trips to and from the strip are $10 with uber.
Is it worth it taking an Uber vs taking a shuttle? Never used Uber, but I'm wondering how much much cheaper it'd be? We're thinking about renting a car to drive ourselves back to the airport.
The shuttles are something like $6 to $10 per person and they often have multiple stops. Uber is better, even if it ends up costing a few bucks more. Almost every hotel has an "Uber lane" for pick ups now.
uber is really easy to use. You just need to DL the app. The shuttles run their routes and don't drop you off directly at your destination. I would encourage uber for anything that is not within walking distance personally.
That's good news. Maybe it had something to do with EDC going on that weekend. People were b****ing about it for some reason. Next time I'll try Uber there and see if I can save a few clams. I did have trouble using Uber in NYC a few weeks ago though. Kept getting frustrated with them finding me, and me them. Although it was cheaper slightly even with surges. Had to go see a customer in Harford and the Uber there was like 180 bucks for a 2 hour ride which sounds expensive but really not that bad in comparison. But in the city it was a pain to use Uber.
oh yeah definitely man. EDC week/weekend in Vegas is at the top of the list for one of the busiest times there if not #1. everything gets bumped up a bit at that time with the mass amount of people at that time. That would make sense with the Uber troubles you were referring to. I could only imagine all the calls, especially ones trying to get out to the speedway
I'm going Labor Day weekend...will try Uber to get to and from the airport if it's only $10- I think we generally pay like $20 each way (I think that's with tip).
yeah i couldn't stand taxi trips to/from the airport. Especially when a portion of the fair depends on traffic. So you could potentially just be sitting there if you're out and about during peak times and the meter just keeps running up. But yeah myself and others have all had our share of $20-$30 airport rides. Just a bit overboard imo
I'll have a rental car this Saturday through Monday early AM. We were thinking about doing something off the strip. We will probably hit up In N Out for lunch, because... Then, we're trying to think of things to do till at least check in time. I want to avoid the strip as it will start getting busy because of UFC 200. We were thinking about going out to Red Rock Canyon. Anyone been or have any advice? That or Mount Charleston.
Red Rock Canyon is awesome. If you want an awesome place to eat off the Strip and never had New Mexican food, check out Carlito's Burritos. So freaking good.
Spoiler Those were pictures I took at RedRock last week. That is just one of the several reasons I tell anyone to rent a car, there is so much more to see outside of the strip. The area outside the city is stunning.
Very nice. Nice pictures. I'll go through and anonymous rep everyone that has offered good suggestions in this thread (on my cell phone). Rocketman, I'll I'll definitely look that up. Never tried New Mexican, but we both like Mexican, and I love green chilies. Can't imagine the New version is that bad.
Taxis try to take the freeway to the strip to tack on a few extra bucks. If you take a taxi from the airport tell them don't take the freeway.
I'm sure you like basketball but you should check out nba summer league. You'll see executives there from all the teams and they're just out there in the open making deals. We will be paging eddiewassnubbed.
