The Rockets are almost perfectly picked for Sanders with the system play, rotations, COACH's family concept and John Lucas. Plus he seems to respects Harden (from his post game interview in this tread). Seems like the right thing to do --> for him and us.
Get that man a joint, some new glasses and a block party remix for the PA system. If it goes south scrub him from the history books. It's not like he will be the first ever to be waived.
At this point we have nothing to lose because nothing else is out there that will cure our rebounding and interior D issues. Sanders if he regains even 50% of what he used to be will be solid addition at this point. If he acts up and becomes an issue you get rid of him. Nothing to lose and a lot to gain right now by giving him a shot.
http://thefakebasketball.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/Larry-Sanders.jpg I just love the fact he was sitting on the couch one day after a few years and thought to himself "I'm gonna go play with the King and get me a ring".
Get this dude ASAP. He's our guy. Low risk high reward if there ever was one. He has the potential to be Clint x2 if he plays like he did in MIL.
Seriously, what if Sanders is actually motivated to ball hard? Maybe he wants that huge FA contract in a year or two, or maybe he's rediscovered a love for the game -- I don't care WHAT the motivating factor is. He just turned 28 and doesn't have a history of bad injuries. If he's ready to play and can get into game shape in a couple of weeks, Sanders improves our interior defense. No-brainer, considering we have an open roster spot and the slim pickings that are out there to fill it.
If Golden State can bring in Matt Barnes (who's had far more issues on and off the court) to address a need, we should have no problem bringing in Larry Sanders. If he doesn't fit we just cut him. We can't seriously be in win-now mode and knowingly enter the playoffs getting murdered on the boards every night. The only other available move that makes any kind of sense is Lance Stephenson as an Ariza backup.
After seeing the last few games, and knowing what sits ahead in the playoffs, I would now be very much in favor of getting a big like Sanders that will rebound, set a firm screen, and generally be a bad ass on the floor.
Would bring in both too. Ariza needs rest. But Calderon is so tempting, the guy can still rain those 3 bombs even at 35.
If we matchup with Memphis in rnd 1....try rnd 1 exit. Capella is lite in the ass, Harrell is to short and Nene is too old
Guys, don't play yourselves. The chances that he has a long, committed, shiny NBA career are low. You are setting yourself up for disappointment and then you will be complaining about him just like the people who seem to be SHOCKED right now that Ryno can't rebound or play defense. Minimum contract, maybe gives us 30-40 good games of rebounding and blocks off the bench. I hope it happens, but don't blow the thing up in your mind. There is a reason why all teams are weary of this move, there is a reason why he hasn't been snapped up for the minimum till the last minute.
Seriously. And good luck beating out Clint/Nene/Trez for playing time. Those guys won't give it up easily. Especially Trez.
no harm no foul... we have a spot.. why not..... could be hidden gem and win/win scenario for a great turnaround.... are we really worse off by having him in? glass half empty or half full? bring him in!!! might be a hidden gem if his passion and will can bring back his skills. everything to gain here!
Isn't this guy like Royce White but with a weed problem? Well except that he balled in the league and White was only ever a scrub. But still, this dude loved weed more than the league.
