Yup, still a non thinking douche bucket. It's truly fun Googling him though. He's in his 40's and still trolls on the internet and his former schools like a boss.
Lane Kiffin is a very bold move. He is probably the best offensive coach in college football. He is an exceptional recruiter and will bring lots of attention to the program. I suspect a lot of the recruiting class will stay, and it is unlikely Allen will leave. The negatives are obvious.... no one should assume loyalty from Lane, the other side being that if he does leave, it probably means UH is winning. When you get down to..... Lincoln Riley is probably too young (33) and had serious reservations about the buy out. Les Miles' heart wasn't in it. So it is Orlando or Kiffin? I am sure they will want to bring Orlando back as an associate head coach.
Definitely. Hiring Kiffin and losing Orlando seems like the worse scenario. I think UH would be better with Orlando instead of Kiffin. Bringing in Kiffin seems like a great PR / espn front page news but I don't think his history suggests success. I feel like Saban is trying to get rid of him. I don't think that is a result of the chewout that Saban gave Kiffin earlier this year but that blowup might have been a build up of some issues. He was fired from Oakland for some problem with how he ran the program. I think it's suspicious that he was fired after 3 years and two games at USC despite going 28-15 but maybe they just didn't see enough improvement after a 3-2 start in his 4th year. I gave credit for UH hiring Herman 3 years ago. This just feels pretty far from that. Did they not want to hire Les Miles? That seemed like someone who wouldn't leave after a few years, he has a long history of success (141-55 + National Championship) and he can recruit Louisiana and Texas.
Trying to think of an instance where an interim HC stayed on as a coordinator after being passed up. Guess it'd be similar to the Bud Foster/Justin Fuentes situation although I'm not sure if Bud Foster actually interviewed for it. Interesting dynamic.
