If the salary cap rises, which it probably will incw the TV deal is revamped in a few years, even if he doesn't become a breakout star he stands to recoup the 17 mm over his next deal.

Also I don't think Indy really wanted him back, hence the low ball.

After calculating Indiana & North Carolina income tax, it seems as though Lance would have made about $100,000 more/year in Indy.

Don't blame Larry, don't blame Lance, but hope to god Lance uses some of that money to get himself a more competent agent.

I thought it was a pretty obvious case of I want out (those things happen...haha), and this way he can be the focus of the perimeter offense and not living under someone else's shadow (that happens too...lol).

I love all of these twitter CPAs who think that all you have to do is multiply the difference between the top marginal rate between the two states by the annual salary and voila....

    That's
    Not
    The way
    It works.

He would been ideal on the Rockets!! You close games with:

    Lance
    Harden
    Ariza
    TJ
    Howard

    Or you go real small

    Bev
    Lance
    Ariza
    Harden (PF)
    Howard

Lance left for more money. The Indy deal averaged out to 8.8 mil per year but the 1st year is only around 7.5ish if I remember correctly.

Wait, so he's not restricted? He's 100% with the Hornets now?

8.8 million per year for 5 years guaranteed vs. 9.0 million per year for 2 years guaranteed.

That 200K/year also disappears when you consider the higher state income tax rate in N Carolina.

He just wanted to play somewhere else, simple as that.
