He gets plenty of shots in San Antonio and an opportunity to be the face of the franchise in a year or two. In Houston he was never going to be "the man". He is an all star player and his middle range game fits perfectly with what San Antonio does. However this isn't all bad for the Rockets. The Blazers are finished and the Clippers are not a true threat anymore. San Antonio is very well coached and disciplined but this isn't LeBron going to Cleveland or Miami. The Spurs have to stay healthy and hope their older players do not errode, especially Parker..... Gino is a shell of himself and Parker looked really bad last year.... If those guys don't come through, their backcourt is in serious trouble and there isn't going to be a Finals run. Spurs fans should be excited, they identified him as their target a year ago and their organization did every thing to get him, including having Pop hold his hand for 48 hours. As for the Rockets, many things can still materialize. Lawson is out there, Collison.... A star or two will be available at the deadline and there are rumblings of Melo being shipped out of NY.
Lol. SA ain't gonna do s*** even with LaMarcus Aldridge. Their the ones are going to be lucky to make it to the second round. They have old guys that are breKing down and no depth.

No their future = looking up at us in the standings. Their time has come and gone. LMA would of been great here with two other superstars. He os not a guy that can carry a team with just one other star. If he was he would of won a championship with Lillard.
The worse thing for every other team will be the Spurs somehow figure out a way to get a guy like Biyombo for a 1 year deal at min. They need a C more than David West. Getting David West meaning they will be forced to play a lot of small ball, which is not a really good thing for an old team. Getting a quality defensive backup C is their first priority.
You would pray for Morey calling RC Buford and asking for a trade of sending Papa's contract and do a sign and trade for Joseph in a reasonable contract (assuming we are not going for Stuckey). Spurs may need more space to sign LMA and Joseph in a decent contract will help. But I seriously doubt the Spurs want to do it with the Rox.
Duncan won't be there so I'm not worried. Once he hangs it up SA is done as contenders. A Aldridge/Leonard core doesn't scare me.
That's not enough though. They'll have to reload in a couple years. Maybe even next year. They're banking heavily on some very old players holding up over an entire season.
If reports are true that LaMarcus is signing a 4-year deal, he is signing for 70% of what he could get if he signs a 1+1 year deal and then opts out and re-signs next season when the big cap bump kicks in along with his 10-year veteran status. He will be leaving over $30 million on the table over 4 years..not to mention actually getting a 5th year next year by signing a fresh 4-year deal (last year around $38 million). That's an extra year and an extra $68 million he could make by signing for 1 season and then re-signing a max deal next summer. Even if he can get another max deal in 4 years and the salary cap goes up to $140 million he won't be able to recoup what he could've made by signing a 1-year deal and then re-signing next summer for the max. If LaMarcus actually signs for 4 years...that's a steal for the Spurs. And it puts them in prime position to add another primo piece next season when the cap rises to close to $90 million.
NO FA agents this summer signed a 5 year deal with the 5th year not being a player option. Year 5 is meaningless under the current situation, almost everyone wants to opt out asap. I won't be surprised to see LMA has a player option in his 4th year also.
