you're talking about a team that was coming off of its third championship in a row and for the most part all had players who played together. this lakers team is a far cry in terms of cohesiveness than that team thats not to say they wont get it together -- they will -- a better comparison is how Miami started 9-8 two seasons ago and got it together and made the finals. I still believe the Lakers are still one of 4 teams that can come out of the west (OKC, Spurs, Clippers being the other 3) but they need to get it together -- the lakers bench is near nonexistant and if their starters cant get properly on the same page it will be a long year for them. Their biggest issue at the moment is their coach -- the best basketball coach in LA right now is Ben Howland and he is coaching at UCLA not in the NBA -- The lakers should have made a huge push at getting JVG, Adelman (I would say SVG but that wouldn't happen) this offseason -- Brown is clearly above his head here. This offense they are trying to run is not going to work with the squad they have. They may be old but they aren't so old that they can't play a faster tempo of ball. If Nash's injury becomes a nagging one they will be in big trouble in the long run but I dont expect it to be -- Dwight and Kobe's health is more of a concern right now of course. Living in LA it IS nice to see them struggle so everyone around here is shutting up their face.
Totally agree.. there biggest issue is Mike Brown.. Give him defensive player of the year award for shutting down Nash like no one has ever before
Kobe and Nash are old and more injury prone. Dwight is immature. Gasol is inconsistent and sometimes soft. And it's going to take the team quite awhile to gel - if it ever does. Also, Mike Brown is a crappy coach. Dude has no business coaching an NBA team. Nobody should be surprised that LA has gotten off to a subpar start.
The Lakers have more talents than anybody else in the West. They will get their act together and start winning real soon.
I hope so. Didn't you guys kept saying that during preseason to win at least one game? Besides Kobe and Dwight, I don't think Gasol, or Nash is an advantage to your team anymore. Either they are old or on the decline. You could probably say the same for Kobe. Who knows if DH will be the same after his back injury. He looks pretty stiff out there but I will hold judgment since its only his second game back. What Collison did to you guys the other night wasn't pretty. Nash is a liability.
Nash, Bryant, Gasol, and Artest are all old guys with too much mileage. The question is how many nights are all these guys gonna play together regardless of what offense they run. Its hard to create chemistry when half the guys are going to be injured all the time.
It's funny how they keep on comparing this new super team lakeshow to the heat when Bron and Bosh joined Dwhistle. Last time I checked, 3 heat players are still in there prime. Lakeshow you got Kobe who is slowly fading in the horizon, Nash who is older than super nintendo, and Pau who's been all downhill after 2009. They won't ring again IMHO This has another Malone/Payton move written all over it.
Is it possible that the Lakers are the worst team in the league? Tanking for the top pick might not be a bad option. They could use a good small forward.
Why can't lakers fans take a loss because every time the lakers lose they always comeback and say "but who has 5 rings"
I wouldn't say worse but they are definitely not what everyone is hyping them up to be. Metta, at this stage of his career is suitable as a bench player that should only come in as a defensive specialist. Not starting. If LA is committed to Nash, and it looks like they are since they inked him in for 3 years, they will need to find a better backup than Steve Blake. Both of those guys are not stopping anyone in this league. Nash is useless with this whole new princeton hybrid offense or whatever they are trying to run with Mike Brown. Pau, thank god Stern Veto'd. DH12 could be there next player to build around. Not sure if he will ever be the same so that is a big question mark at this point. Lakers are a good team, don't get me wrong. But lets not act like they just recruited all of these guys five years ago.
Kinda surprised with this: <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Per @<a href="https://twitter.com/ramonashelburne">ramonashelburne</a>, Mike Brown, who has never won a title, is saying Steve Nash shouldn't run pick and rolls because it never won a title.</p>— Bruce Arthur (@bruce_arthur) <a href="https://twitter.com/bruce_arthur/status/264144848213381122" data-datetime="2012-11-01T23:20:14+00:00">November 1, 2012</a></blockquote> <script src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
everyone runs some PnR in this league. Its one of the most basic basketball plays on all levels. That's just plain dumb. So far this reminds me of the Payton/Malone/Kobe so-called "super team". Doesnt do you any good to have superior talent on a team if they can't actually work together as a team.
lol. Yea. And so does every single team in the league. Miami did that as well. Celtics ran pnr. To me the only reason why the Lakers won't win a title is because of Mike Brown.
Lol really? So funny, when Lebron failed to win a title with him over and over and people pointed to Mike Brown, Lebron haters/Kobe lovers were quick to point out that Mike Brown is a very competant all world level coach, lebron just cant get it done. Now that Kobe cant win, even with all the help in the world on his team, suddenly Mike Brown is the worst coach ever.
