So the Lakers get Cousins and the 6th pick ANDDD possibly keep Lin. Pack it up boys, Lakers going to win it all next year.
Yeah, it's always possible that he loses value and if you are going to trade him then trade him. You have to be sure he's not one of these guys that's just waiting for the big FA courting period, if he is then F em. Trade him. I mean it's a risky move either way. The safer move is to just keep him...but unless the guy they draft is a phenom, they are not making the playoffs for another year.
Injury aside, he's more likely, imo, to gain value than lose value. His game should continue to improve. His contract will be a bargain for a player of his skill-set next offseason. I agree that if they want to trade him, or will entertain it... then they should entertain it. But that doesn't mean you trade him to move up 1 spot in the draft and just get Vucevic back. Especially when it is part of a deal where the rumor is the Lakers are themselves moving the #2 and Julius Randle. The better play there is to just take the Lakers offer. Vucevic is clearly more proven, but the #2 and Randle both have more upside potential, and if you are trading away Cousins, it's for upside potential, or to get a bunch of slightly above average starter-like players back in a misguided effort to squeak into the playoffs as the 8th seed. It's not to be in the exact same position you are at, but only with a lesser center.

Agreed. SAC is basically trading Cousins straight up for Vooch, and ORL is getting back two unproven rookies in Randle and (probably) Okafor. If you were ORL, why not just stick with Vooch and the 5th pick? Vooch is a stud, and the 5th pick is still damn high. If you were SAC, why not just stick with Cousins and the 6th pick, which, again, is damn high as well. I can't see SAC making the playoffs with Cousins and the 6th either next year or next year, so why make the situation even more bleak with getting Vooch? I just don't get it. The Lakers make out like bandits if this proposed three-teamer goes through.
This is dumb media noise. This makes zero sense for SAC who basically have no other talent to speak of that can elevate the team. Boogie has the potential to be the best C in the league with the right mentoring.
If Sacramento does trade Cousins (and that's probably for at least a season away) why not try to trade him to New York for the number 4? Or why not cut the Lakers out of that deal, and just take Vucevic and the 6th pick? And they're saying the Lakers get the best player in the deal AND only have to move down 4 spots? Why would either team do that? I could see it if the 2nd pick went to Orlando and Vucevic and the 6th went to Sacramento.
Basically the Lakers get to "draft" Cousins and lose Randle who didnt play last year and get a do over pick for him at #6? I dont get why teams feel they have to make sure the Lakers get the best part of every deal. I would see this deal being possible of Sacramento go to keep their pick and the Magics
You're assuming all these teams are interested in these things. What makes you think Orlando wants Cousins for Vucevic+6 as opposed to getting Randle+2? Or that Cousins wouldn't be a malcontent in Orlando?
randle's too short to play in the paint and can't shoot and to top it off, broke his leg. he was the 7th pick in a worse draft than this year's. but hey, LAL should just swap him for the #6 this year, and don't stop there, give em demarcus for the 2nd coming of brook frickin lopez in okafor as well!
That's still not nearly enough for Cousins, who is really the most dominant big man not named Anthony Davis. Randle is a rookie coming back from a season-ending injury, and two potentially talented players don't add up to one proven franchise big man.
My SOURCES say Lakers have already agreed to sign Wade and Aldridge. Also trade for Boogie is almost finalized.
