That's like asking for a discount when you are getting something for free. Uhhh....that's the idea Cousins.
Not sure why the Kings are so intent on keeping him unless it's just posturing. It isn't about Karl being so important he should get his way, it's about Cousins just not working there. Sure he's good enough that you'd bite the bullet but a 2nd and Randle is too good to pass up considering the circumstances. Just do it already, Cousins hasn't done anything positive for that franchise yet.
Maybe if the kings could actually surround him with players who can shoot and keep a good coach for more than one season..and actually go get a coach who will build a system around the star and not want to run and gun...but if hes so bad why do the lakers want him right?
Never said he was bad. He's just not right for them anymore. If you can get the #2 and Randle for him and not worry about allocating cap space to those 2 guys for a few years you eject on Cousins and start new. Cousins is a good player. That's obvious.
anyone who thinks it's on everyone else and nothing on cousins are kidding themselves. There's obviously problems when it comes to dealing with Cousins especially with his crybaby attitude.
Kings are self destructing. I can't imagine a trade for Cousins that is even close to fair value, and number two picks are not sure things. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.
It may be true about Cousins' attitude, but it is DEFINITELY true that the King's organization is dysfunctional and they have never been good at developing players.
Randle is coming off an injury and there are many questions about how his bully ball will translate to the pros and he plays no defence. Ok4 or Russell could grow to be stars or busts. Why trade for two big questionmarks when u have the young star already and locked up for years?
I think the idea is that Cousins is a coveted player around the league. The Kings should shop around. They are not desperate to trade him. His contract still has a long way to go. The Lakers offer might turn out to be the best. But they'd be stupid not to leverage it to squeeze more from other teams.

There's no way DMC gets traded without something marquee coming back. That would kill basketball in Sacramento plus signal another full rebuild when Karl doesn't want to do that. I still think this is a media driven firestorm initiated by Dan Fegan.

Its why their GM just left...Vivek meddles way too much with player/personel, and the rest of the management is flat out terrible... I do think that George Karl is an intelligent dude, but if there is a chance that the Kings could nab the 2nd pick for Cousins, they should not even hesitate. And they should also rightfully ask for a lot. #2 Pick, #27(via Houston), Jordan Hill, and Ed Davis for Cousins should be the template... Vivek needs to back up and let his staff do their job.
