Lakers got fooled by stephen curry winning MVP... contrary to popular belief, Curry doesnt carry the warriors... he is a 3-point specialist with decent handles, who benefits 80% of the time from moving screens and illegal pick plays to get his shot off, he is also surrounded by elite defenders at every position.. as you saw tonight when the clippers got the 10 point lead.. draymon, klay and iggy took turns guarding cp3.. no other team has defenders like that on a roster that can go againist curry, and even if they did like i said before they have to fight through the illegal pick plays and moving screens Russell is basically what a rookie Steph Curry would have looked like in the same position on this same Lakers team... FACTS
So... The Lakers scored BIG time! They got a young 6'5 Curry, damn where all screwed!! Its just a matter of time before Harden leaves the Rockets to join MVP Russel. And the Lakers dynasty continues...
Steph Curry aint that athletic, and neither is Russell... both were beast in college though surround russell with a team like warriors with curry, with versatile defenders/passers/athletes like iggy, draymon, klay, and bogut... and yea he could look like a star especially if the refs aint gonna call those screens that would leave him WIDE OPEN WE SAW WHAT HAPPENS TO CURRY IN THE FINALS WHEN A DEFENDER IS ALLOWED TO D HIM UP AND REFS DONT BLOW THE WHISTLE, CURRY COULDNT BLOW BY MATTHEW DELLAVADOVA AFTER KYRIE IRVING GOT INJURED... DELLI WAS ON CURRY'S HIP POCKET AND THOSE MOVING SCREENS WERE CALLED OUT IN GAME 2.. I THINK CURRY SET A RECORD FOR MOST MISSED 3'S IN A FINALS GAME LOL.. all it takes is for the nba refs to enforce the rules and the warriors would lose games at a normal rate like most teams, because russell and curry are so similar athletically
What are you talking about? Athletecism isn't the only factor, even if Russsell is left open he doesn't have the same accuracy as Curry: Curry Rookie year: 17.2 pts, 46.2% FG, 43.7% 3p Russell rookie stats: 10 pts, 40% FG, 30.4% 3p Even as a rookie the difference between the is like night and day. Matthew Dellavova and Nash are both unathletic, doesn't mean Della would score as much as Nash if he was left open c'mon dude.
Not that he will likely be as accurate as Curry, given Curry is the greatest shooter ever, but stats across 5 games don't mean he can't shoot. I mean, look at where Harden's shooting stats are right now.
Yeah I know but at the same time I was just responding to the dude who said Russell and Curry were the same because they were unathletic shooters who "made shots that were open". I watched Russell play through out the preseason and trust me he'll never be at the level of Curry, Curry was money every single time he was open, in his NYC workout for example people were talking how the dude didn't miss a single shot during the workout. Russell looked great against college scrubs but it doesn't seem like he will translate to the NBA, he might turn out to be LA's Darko Milicic esp. with Porzingis, Hezonja and that dude in Denver looking like potential stars.

Delly shut him down one game. Next 3 games Curry is >50% from 3. Curry is better in isolation than you think. He's got his stepback and his release is so quick you give him an inch and he'll just shoot it in your face without any moves. The guy is pretty much a shooting savant. People have analyzed his shot and his mechanics below the waist are actually pretty F'd up, but the guy is so good that he somehow still hits from everywhere. Russell's best attribute is his court vision. Scott is just not using him correctly. People are comparing him to Mudiay - Mudiay leads the Nuggets with 28% usage - he basically has the keys to the offense. On the Lakers, Clarkson, Lou Will, Randle, and Kobe all have a higher usage % than Russell because they all want to play point guard or isolate without moving the ball.
WOW! Can't believe those quotes. Absolutely horrifying. NOone cares anymore why you didn't pick someone else. Focus on your damn OWN rookie and stfu. I have never seen any other high draft pick treated so badly and with so utter disrespect so soon. Even Benett was given the chance to prove himself his coach didn't go around badmouthing him like that. Scott needs to GTFO. I feel really bad for Russel and I dont' even like him taht much as a prospect. But he's treated like trash and it's completely unfair.

shut up magic I hate the Lakers I really do but all this piling up on the young rookie is unacceptable.
ESPN insider article; can't access it though: http://espn.go.com/nba/insider/story/_/id/14135035/was-dangelo-russell-right-rookie-losangeles-lakers-nba
I thought the Lakers probably should have drafted Jahlil Okafor but he's definitely the safe pick. Okafor will be a very good player and maybe an all star at some point in his career, but Russell is a high risk high reward player who could be a superstar in the league. I don't know why Byron Scott only plays him 20 minutes per game when all the other lottery picks are getting much more opportunity. The Lakers have 2 wins right now so I don't see the harm in getting Russell more minutes. From what I've seen, he's got great court vision and has made several really nice passes. Many of which caught Lakers players off guard when the ball was coming their way. His outside shot is pretty good and his misses are rimming out. He just needs a little confidence and he could be a star by year 2.
mitch kupchak was fooled by stephanie curry's success lol, the warriors hide stephanie's weaknesses on defense, and use illegal pick plays and illegal screens to play to his strengths looks like ole deangelo is lacking the atheltic ability to beat players off the dribble.. quite sad
