Chris Paul DEFRTG 117.9 MCW DefRTG 117.5 BOTH WORSE THAN MELO Melo also has the 3rd highest OffRTG on the team at 105.6 Harden and Green are the only ones higher Chris Paul and a NetRTG of -13.2 MCW had a NetRTG of -18.1 Both worse than Melo Melo NetRTG is -10.5 The board hero PJ Tucker is -8.8
As far as the pace arguement against Melo With Melo in the game we play at a 104.77 There are 4 players lower than that.... Gordon - Capela - Harden -Tucker. So that isn't a good knock against him either
the people here knocking melo obviously didn't see him work in the post or dribble and pull up three over an outstretched Harrell. Harden would've got stuffed. He played great last night. i'm not sure what the haters were watching. we're lucky to have him at veterans min.
Daryl Morey on Montrezl Harrell, right after the Chris Paul trade: "We tried to keep him out of it." I can't find a link online, but I remember the words. Must have been in audio of an interview.
Bingo. When you switch everything you better make sure you have multiple good defenders on the court, otherwise the offense literally gets the matchups they want. When you have Harden and Melo on the floor this means its probably a bad idea to switch everything. As you say, Capela, our only decent big man, gets pulled out to the perimeter...which means two things. He's on a guard and is probably on skates A guard or SF is down low trying to guard a big. Neither of these options are good. We are getting destroyed by the other teams bigs
LOL using Net RTG and DefRTG(especially after 5 games) for Chris freaking Paul throughout his whole career has posted amazing advanced stats is not a good example, Chris Paul will get those stats up, thats a fact. Also @ThunderStruck said, DefRTG isnt even a good defensive stat. Edit: You know what forget what i said above lol, But what is true is that alot of defensive stats are inherently flawed. And yet hes only played 3 games, calm down there.
Don't know the real purpose of the Drtg stat, it's not the teams Drtg when the player is on the court, that is the on/off Drtg. I get that Oliver felt that he had to have it and sites feel that they have to list it because they list Ortg, but the stat in itself and any other stat derived from it doesn't offer any useful info about how the individual defends or affects the team defense. Such an odd stat.
Switching defense is about IQ, and communication on defense. It's not just about effort, it's not just about the first switch, it is about reacting and knowing when to switch again to remove bad matchups, it is about continuously being alert on defense and not losing cutters, etc. If you have one guy that is not as quick to do these things, the other guys can make up for it. If you have two guys on the court that are behind, it's going to become hard to figure things out.
Yeah, he's not too bad. But the main issue is what I've been saying. We are getting destroyed down low. While Capela isn't going to get abused on the perimeter (and if someone does blow past him, no one is there to protect the rim...) everyone else we have gets abused down low. As Montrezl showed 2 games this year...and Montrezl is a nice player, a nice rotational player, but he's not as good as he was against us.
Heres the definition of DefRtg from stats.nba.com. It's the number of points allowed per 100 possessions while a player is on the floor. That's a meaningful stat. It's the exact same DefRtg that is used on on/off court. DEFRTG Name Defensive Rating Definition The number of points allowed per 100 possessions by a team. For a player, it is the number of points per 100 possessions that the team allows while that individual player is on the court Formula 100*((Opp Points)/(Opp POSS)) Type Advanced
Folks need to calm down how many games have we played thus far? Gotta give this team some time to try and gel somewhat first
