Yeah, me too. The thing he: he certainly looks the part. He is probably the smoothest dribbler in the game, makes incredible hard shots and is a good passer. He definetly looks like a superstar in the making. But then again, that hasn`t helped them win games. The Cavs are one of the worst teams in the league - despit having two #1 picks and how many more top 5 picks? 2 or3? Add Varejao, Jack and a Bynum, that is actually producing some this year. In the east they should at least fight for a playoff spot. Yet it seems like they go for the top pick again. So that is certainly a concern. But I am still a believer...
They should be able to at least be in playoff contention with Jack, Bynum and Waiters. He doesn't seem to make his teammates better because he's got a shoot first mentality and the coach doesn't hold him accountable. Maybe this benching will humble him.
At this point I think he's very overrated. Even with his stellar stats last year, he was overrated. Now, there's a chance he can live up to the hype considering how young he is but it was premature that people were pegging him as the next great PG. Last year he did put up numbers and that combined with his flashy play seems to make people think he's a superstar. He's one of the flashiest players in the league. With all this said his teams do not win. I mean Kevin Love has been discredited for not taking his team to the playoffs but his teams have won a lot more when he plays in comparison to Kyrie's and he's also in the West.
Kyrie needs to show some kind of improvement this year. It's the crucial 3rd year, where most players make that jump. He hasn't shown ANY signs of improvement defensively. Offensively, he has been in a prolonged shooting slump, dating back to last year. So this isn't just a month and a half now. He has all the tools to be that "guy," but he's either not utilizing them well or doesn't know how to use them. He doesn't make his teammates better. He doesn't make get to the line consistently. He has been shooting around 40% since the ASG last year. I have high hopes for the guy, but he has to throw his believers a bone at least. This is just bad play.
