I think people are questioning him because he has never got his team even remotely close to the playoffs. Ever since he was drafted they have ended up high lotto picks yes he has had injuries but if your a superstar in a crappy east, you find a way to get your team playing .400 ball over the past 3 years
You obviously don't understand basketball and watch just the box score, if you actually watch Irving play, you will see how mind-numbingly good he is. There is only exactly one player in the league that can carry any team to the playoffs. His name is LeBron James and he is on course to become a top 5 NBA player ever.
what the crap happened to him? I thought he was on the way to becoming a bonafide super star. Instead he has a huge regression this year, and is playing terrible. Maybe he bought into his own hype or ....Drugs are bad for you kids!
What is he "mind-numbingly good" at, besides scoring in a variety of ways? I will grant you that he is absolutely elite at breaking down his opponent one-on-one, scoring out of pick and rolls, and finding space then converting shots with high degrees of difficulty. But as a point guard he isn't going to be getting scoring opportunities in the same volume as your Kobes or Carmelos, and the rest of his game falls pretty well short of being "mind-numbingly good". He's actually pretty mediocre as a distributor/facilitator and has historically been pretty awful defensively. And he's certainly not "mind-numblingly good" at avoiding injuries.
Kyrie has a lot of potential. However he has lots of issues with teammates. Is possibly the worst defensive point guard in the NBA outside of Steve Nash. He also finishes poorly in the paint (40%), has poor shot selection and limited size.
Really? You think Lebron is the only player who ever carried his team to the playoffs? Are you really sticking with that answer? And please tell me, what has kyrie got better at in the last 2 years since he was a no.1 pick. Kyrie is a nice ISO player heat check player who is a modern day shoot first pg, but don't you think it's a little bit alarming that in 2 years he has not made a huge leep in his game? I'm sure he can get their maybe it's a situation of bad team bad coach whatever, but really has kyrie Improved? ( not as well this is not a knee jerk to his 0-9 game, I think he's a nice player but thinking about it, look at e past no.1 picks who played the PG position, rose and now wall has stepped up, is kyrie ever going to be a permenemt no questions asked top 5 PG?)
John Wall has passed Kyrie Irving this year on the pg list, but both have their upa nd downs so it could switch again.
Dion Waiters and Kyrie do not get along at all on court and off court. Waiters said that Kyrie and Tristan Thompson plays buddyball, the coach doesn't call out Kyrie's mistakes but does it to everyone else etc etc.
Wall manages the offense much much much better then Kyrie, he's an excellent defender, his jumpshot has improved a lot this season (mechanic wise and percentage wise). Wall blows Irving out of the water.
Wall is probably the best athlete in the NBA other than LBJ. His combination of explosiveness, strength, body control and quickness is very, very, very rare.
Kyrie is just an undersized SG. I have yet to find an undersized SG that you can build around and win a ring. I blame Iverson for starting this fad of PGs who's only ability is to score. Gladly, the fad is ending as Rose and now Kyrie are going down. Westbrook will be next, and when that happens, we can get back to drafting pass first PGs.
Harden lead his team to 45 wins and playoffs in the WEST. Kyrie has only lead his team to the lottery and in the EAST. Harden is leading a contender right now, Kyrie is still leading a lottery team. Wrong comparison
“He’s pouting,” was the explanation I’ve heard recently from two league executives. - Cavs Beat Writer
The comparison is right because both players are extremely talented yet have frequent nights where they don't seem to give a damn.
Well Harden's teams have always been more successful so the comparison is not right. Compare Kyrie Irving and Brandon Jennings this year. Kyrie Irving 19.7 ppg (18.6 shots), 5.7 apg, 3.4rpg, 0.9 spg, 0.2 bpg and 3.1tpg on 39.4 FG%, 30 3P%, 77.5 FT% (Team is 6-13) Brandon Jennings 15.9 ppg (14.9 shots), 8.4 apg, 3.2rpg, 1.6 spg, 0.1 bpg and 3.5 tpg on 38.2 FG%, 34.2 3P%, 77.5 FT% (Team is 9-10) Conclusion Kyrie has been a bigger chucker this year than Jennings while Jennings is actually trying to be a PG averaging 8.4 assists and getting his team involved more in the offense and as a result his team has been better.
