Windhorst on The Jump: "The question with the Cavs is if they will make Isaiah Thomas available. I can tell you this. It's going very poorly with Isaiah and the Cavs right now. There's a lot of frustration with the way Isaiah is playing on the team." (streamable.com)
He can't make himself taller and "play taller". He is what he is, a great scorer but too small to guard most players.
Well, some of us knew exactly how this was going down, but is there any doubt left now that the Cavaliers got fleeced in this trade? Kyrie Irving will end up top 5 in MVP voting, while Isaiah Thomas might be traded... AGAIN... at the deadline. GM LeBron's scorched earth policy when leaving a team should be quite worrisome for any potential future suitor including Houston.
I wonder how many people here still believe IT was "better" than Kyrie last season. Coaching and culture matter. The IT we saw in Boston is gone. His NBA role models should be Jamal Crawford and Lou Williams. He never was a "franchise player" and never will be.
As long as you don't let him control anything it should be fine. Look at Miami, he gave them two rings and 4 finals appearances before he left, amd the team was intact and could have still gone on if it weren't for Bosh retiring due to blood clots.
Coaching and culture do indeed matter, as the Kyrie we see in Boston now is way better than the Kyrie we saw on the Cavs who couldn't even keep a positive differential when Lebron sits down.
Kyrie knew Lebron would turn the Cavs into a franchise with no future once Lebron was done with it with nothing to build around kyrie once he was done or ring chased again Kyrie is set for the next 10years with Boston. Kyrie, Tatum, and whatever young all star big joins then in FA is gonna run the east for a good while Lebron is a b****
Let's see your tune when Lebron is a Rocket Lebron didn't owe Kyrie or the Cavs a damn thing. He got them a ring. He made that franchise relevant again - not Kyrie. He reportedly was willing to work it out with Kyrie. Cleveland screwed up majorly by trading him.
LeBron is an Egomaniac...no doubt about that. Not very likable beyond the fact that we should appreciate his once in a generation talent.
He's a great player, but this is a more dramatic version of what Bosh said about Lebron. It was difficult for him to play with Lebron because Lebron basically demanded he stay on certain spots of the floor at all times so that Lebron could have freedom everywhere. He would get onto Bosh if Bosh moved to a spot that wasn't "allowed" and it was hard for Bosh to adapt. Lebron is very difficult to play with.
He is very difficult to play with because he is so physically dominant that he can literally do whatever he wants on the court. However, I think we are seeing now that it is becoming a problem as his skills start to diminish (even if just a little) and he starts to lose his physical gifts. LeBron has a lot of miles...tons of miles. He has been to what, 7 finals? Or is it 6? Either way that is about 2 extra FULL seasons of wear and tear. He needs legit superstars next to him now. Not fringe top 15 or top 20 players like he had with Bosh and has with Love.
Its called making sacrifices, when you play with superior teammates, you have to defer to them. Chris Bosh and Kevin Love have sacrificed their volume statistics, and in return, they reached postseason success and NBA immortality.
i dont think its really his play thats the real problem. once you throw in a mix of guys that aren't the yes sir type and have their own egos and ways of doing things, its a recipe for drama. Couple that with Lebron's own agenda and how he wants to play the game. It's no surprise that locker room is a mess. Not everyone has bought in and it clearly shows
