    Comparing Kyle Lowry's first full year as a starter to Steve Nash's first full year, you see the numbers are not that far apart(I'm focusing on pts and asst.). You kept hearing how Aldeman kept prasing Lowry's intelligence over the course of the year. It could be that, given the time and freedom to run the team and grow, Lowry could be something special. He definately has the work ethic and drive to be really good. I think he just needed the confidence and opportunity. When given both, you saw the numbers he put up. What are your thoughts Clutchfans?

    If he can maintain his efficiency as a point guard...
    And improve his jumper. Yes. He can be a dark horse for an all-star spot.

    I think a couple of all-star appericences await him. With D-Will gone there is only one all-star PG left in the west (cp3). Kyle has to do his part and but I think Nash is almost done because of his age.Parker is too inconsistent and Kidd just sucks.

    if he can improve on his shooting, yes he can be an all star for sure, he had some games where he shot really well and it affected the team performance tremendously. we need a solid PG and we have not had a good PG in a long time (SF3 was more of a SG IMHO) and Rafer....well i think we all know what Rafer could do. cant even remember who was the PG before SF3, Maloney? That sucked big time.

    my point is, most of the teams that win it all, usually have a very solid PG eg. Parker, Billups, Rondo, Fisher, Smith/Cassell.

    I have a very positive feeling about Lowry and i still think he's better than Conley in Memphis. Kyle is also a very solid defender and plays with a lot of passion. im quite happy with our PG situation over here with Dragic backing Kyle. Actually im quite happy with all our positions except at center which is too obvious.

    Think Lamar Odom. He's not an all-star, but he is very valuable to the Lakers team.

    Other examples: Joakim Noah, Nene, Jamal Crawford.

    I think Lowry's stat line next year will look like this... 16ppg 7.5 assists and 2 steals. Low turnovers and great defense make him a border line all star.

    on a winning team only. too many guards are going to do better than 16/7 for him to have a chance in the west without a great overall record to show for it.

    i think the rockets will be taking a step back next year. lowry will put up great numbers and prove himself as an above average pg, but he won't get the accolades that come with winning, until the team starts winning.

    Terry Porter is an interesting case. Fully half of his career (85-94) was with Rick Adelman. Look at the following stats, and keep in mind that Adelman coached him in Portland through the 1993-1994 season.

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/portete01.html

    Now, we don't want to look at the entire rest of Porter's career as a true comparison, because he was getting older as a player, but if you compare his Portland time, overall, to his time in a non-Adelman offense, it suggests Kyle may never hit exactly this year's numbers again (unless the Rockets get him some great wings to play with.)

    I know it's apples and oranges a little because teammates are different, etc, but for Porter:

    * his top five career PER years were with Adelman
    * his top four career offensive rating years " " "
    * his top seven win share years " " "
    * his top five APG years " " "
    * his top seven PPG years " " "
    * his top seven steals average years " " "

    Maybe an aberration, or just having a guy at his prime, with Clyde Drexler, and playing fewer minutes in Minnesota, with worse teammates, but I do think Adelman's offensive system is very good to point guards, statistically. And I think at least a small drop-off for Kyle (a permanent one) is reasonable. Sorry. :(

    Actually I think the opposite is true. Porter's career high assist year was before Adelman took over and it went down every year from once Adelman took over. Adelman's system spreads the assists around the entire team. For example, Bibby's assists numbers went down when he went to the kings with Webber averaging more assist than Bibby on few occasions.

    Interesting. So you're saying Lowry's stats will actually enjoy a bump under our new coach next year? That would pretty much land him on the all star team, LOL. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

    It depends on the coach and how bad we are. I do think Lowry's assist numbers will go up under a different coach. I don't know about his other numbers. We will probably suck next year so I doubt he will be an all-star. I'm thinking Cassell's NJ numbers.

    I am not doing this again, I thought AB would be an all star player.....so I am just hopeful Kyle can repeat last year's performance for several years to come.

    a very good starter. being an all-star ain't that easy unless you're mo williams and you're on the best team in the L.
